A group called the Black Hands assassinated Archduke Ferdinand, the heir of Europe, and blamed it on Serbia. This was a major cause of World War 1. The Allied and Central powers were the two groups in the war. The Allied powers had the countries of Britain, France and Russia. The countries in the Central Powers were Germany, Turkey and Austria- Hungary. The different powers had alliances and agreed that the Allied powers would stick together, and the Central powers would stick together.
