Our services are available 7 days and evenings a week, offering a lifeline for anyone 16+ in Calderdale, completely free of charge.

The Outback is a unique community kitchen and garden based in the heart of the Park Ward community.

The Outback Community Kitchen and Garden runs on organic and sustainable principles and the thriving garden is packed full of herbs, fruit and veg. The one acre site is located next door to the Jubilee Family Hub and is open to the public. There are lots of interesting areas to explore and learn more about the natural environment, whilst the straw bale kitchen provides a perfect space for the local community to gather and cook food.

Peer Support is when people use their own experience to help each other.  There are different types of Peer Support, at Unique Ways Peer Support sessions, we:-

• Bring together Parent Carers with shared experiences to support each other

• Provide a space where you feel accepted and understood

• Treat everyone’s experiences as being equally important

• Involve giving and receiving support.

In Peer Support, everyone’s views and experiences are equally valued, rather than anyone being seen as more of an expert than others.  How much support you give and receive can vary depending on what feels right for you at different times.

What you do at a Peer Support session

You might want to focus on discussing a particular topic or specific difficulties you are experiencing, anything you feel like talking about really, it’s up to you.

It’s not always about getting or giving advice.  It’s also about having a safe space to get things off your chest and occasionally sharing a laugh about it all.

These are where people can gather for free in a warm, safe, welcoming place. Maybe to enjoy a hot drink and some company!

The Basement Recovery Project is an award-winning, community-based organisation built on the expertise of lived experience.  We operate throughout Calderdale to offer those in addiction to alcohol or drugs a new way of life, free from the need or desire to use any mood-altering substance; we call this RECOVERY

Many of our team have been in that same place, taken the same steps and found success. 
We are committed to using our passion, skills and experience to help others and change lives for good.

In recognition of the work done, Project Colt was awarded the Kings Award for Voluntary Service in November of 2023. Boot66 [named after the route 66 bike route through Calderdale] is the new Walking & Hiking group aimed at the whole local community to help provide access to the outdoors, healthy lifestyles and new friendships. Come and join us!

Our team is based in our multi-purpose Hub @ Pellon, where we provide a variety of youth clubs and events for children and young people. We also run Youth Clubs in Mixenden, Ovenden and Rastrick on behalf of Calderdale Council.

All our sessions provide young people with a safe space to meet friends and offer variety of activities in every session. Young people can choose the things they want to do including cooking, music, pool, games, arts & crafts and sports. Alongside this we deliver a range of health and wellbeing workshops so young people can stay safe and make informed decision about their lives. These include:

• Sexual Health

• Social Gaming and Gambling

• Mental Health.

Our team regularly hit the streets and walk around local parks and estates to work with young people where they are most comfortable – in their own communities. We help young people to access a range of activities and experiences, while exploring issues that are important to them.

Mentoring and Support

engage by Newground Together is a mentoring programme for children and young people aged 8 to 19 years old who live in North & East Halifax or Lower Valley areas of Calderdale. A dedicated youth worker will provide 1-to-1 support to take young people on a journey to realise their potential and help them understand the choices they have available. We can help you with:

• School Attendance and Behaviour

• Understanding choices and actions

• Emotional Health and Wellbeing Support e.g. confidence building, self-esteem, anger management

• Promoting positive and healthy relationships

• Diversion from crime and anti-social behaviour

• Staying Safe – both online and in the community.

Happy Days operates a woodwork workshop where residents learn skills and make items such as benches and planters for sale to the public.

Happy Days Cycles is a social enterprise business in Sowerby Bridge. The cycle shop sells and repairs bikes and profits help to fund the work of Happy Days in the Calderdale community. Happy Days Cycles also provides volunteering and work experience opportunities for our residents as part of the Happy Life Programme.

Where possible we use food donations to provide this service. If you would like to donate any food please contact us. We also take donations of clothing, towels and furniture, please let us know if you want to donate.

The Shelter operates from October to March each year. It has space for 8 people who come through referrals made via the Housing Options team at Calderdale Council. Winter Shelter residents receive 3 meals a day and have access to their own private bedroom, a communal area, washing facilities and laundry facilities.

As well as offering walk-in support for anyone who needs help with accommodation and benefits or mental health and addiction support, we operate regular healthcare drop-in clinics at The Gathering Place. These include a twice-weekly wound clinic, weekly sexual health clinic and regular Hepatitis C clinic.

The online hub has lots of tools and resources as well as links to local, regional, and national services. You can catch up on past events and find out about future activities.

People with addiction issues are generally undisciplined people with certain needs for support, structure, and guidance. So here at Reflection’s we offer daily structure which comprises of, a full 12 step program, one to one counselling sessions, 2 group sessions a day, art therapy, peer-led groups, work program, daily bedtime routine & chores.

Our dedicated team of staff and volunteers, most of which have been residents at Reflections themselves, are on hand 24/7 to offer support and guidance to anyone that needs it.

As of 27^th of August 2021 we have a 75% success rate of people that have done the 12-step program are still clean today, some of these guys have stayed on after they have moved on to independent living to volunteer for us.

We are basically one big family, helping each other daily, happy, joyous, and free. If you would like to join us, please fill in our referral form.
