This photo explains that women may show that they are strong but behind every mask is something different. This relates to Rose because even though she is strong she holds in her real feelings. She doesn't let them show and just puts on a smile because everyone believes she is fine.

The theme to ' A Raisin in the Sun' is dreams. They are important and no matter what, you can work to achieve it. I couldn't specifically find a quote, in the text mama implied that she believes if Beneatha works for what she wants she will get it.

The theme of 'Fences' is love. Love is very important in this movie because even though Troy cheated on Rose she loved him and she knew she couldn't survive without him. In the text it says, " Maybe you want to wish me and my boy away. Maybe that’s what you want? Well, you can’t wish us away. I’ve got
eighteen years of my life invested in you. You ought to have stayed upstairs in my bed where you
belong." This says that even after what he did to her she is not going anywhere.

The song ' Girl on Fire' I think relates to Rose because it's a women empowerment song and I feel rose is one of those women that want to be heard that believes in equal rights. After everything that happen she's just a ball of fire ready to explode.

Both of the plays are very similar. The men in both movies agree the men should do all the work, but Troy in fences is good with his responsibilities. Where Walter in A Raisin isn't very responsible and trust worthy. Although they both want to help and make their family happy it is very hard for both of them. They are not really liked in their houses because of their decisions.
Although, the women in both plays I feel are very similar. They both are working for what they want and have experienced betrayal by someone in their family. They are all very strong and stubborn. Rose in Fences after being betrayed by her husband stood strong and took care of a kid that wasn't even hers. Mama in A Raisin after being betrayed by her son stood strong and said that they will get through it. So both plays have very similar characters.
The differences in the plays I see are that in Fences Troy would never want to move his family into a white neighborhood. He believes in equal rights, but he also believes that a women should stay home and take care of the kids. Where Beneatha and Mama feel that if you are a women and want a specific job you go out and fight for that. Not just jobs you fight for what you want. You don't let anyone bring you down. That is not what Troy believes.
