The Soccer Without Borders mission is to use soccer as a vehicle for positive change, providing under-served youth with a toolkit to overcome obstacles to growth, inclusion, and personal success.

The images and mission statement of SWB tells us that this organization fulfills it's purpose through the game of soccer. SWB shows that they value diversity of race and ethnicity while serving youth boys and girls.

Message

SWB message is too show the potential soccer has to inspire youth in achieving growth, inclusion, and personal success beyond just playing the game. Their results come from the commitment of trained coaches and mentors who use the program activities to develop the whole person in a safe and supportive team community.

The images do align with the SWB message they are trying to convey. There were many images to choose from on the website, but included are just a snapshot of a few. More photos of mentors with the youth could be included to convey that piece of the message more.

The organization has worked with youth from 75 nations and 12 countries with their core programs being based in Seattle, Baltimore, Boston, Colorado, Oakland, Nicaragua, and Uganda. The most prominent initiatives include Girls in the Game which has served over 10,000 underprivileged girls from over 50 origin countries, Playing for Change which has served refugee and asylee youth from 68 countries and 53 languages, as well as ELL programs serving most commonly in the US and Uganda.

This action plan aims to support coaches and female leaders to increase girls’ participation in programs, strengthen their own leadership skills, and build a more gender-inclusive Soccer Without Borders.
