Love labour in the economy - Filip

The expectation that workers should love their jobs is more a larger idea than ever, especially in creative and care work. The pressure that this brings on, masks the reality that many jobs in the current economy have become exploitative, in which demands more emotional and physical labor without the corresponding rewards for that labour. The idea of the labor of love become a permanent part of the economy.

Female "natural role" - Cecile

For a long time females natural job has been seen as in the home. Doing the dishes, cleaning and taking care of the children. It was assumed that care that was paid for, cannot also be genuine, and that paying for work done out of love will somehow serve to take love away. This concept is constantly changing and power dynamics in the home are also transforming. If all women stayed in the home then economically there would be a huge gap.

Work-life balance is an important part of the future of work, and it involves things like flexible working hours and working from home. This doesn’t just impact how happy people are but also affects bigger things like how families organize their lives. For example, if more people work from home, we might need fewer office buildings, and cities could look different. It also affects the economy because businesses might be more productive, and employees might be happier and work better when they have a good balance between their job and personal life.

Intimate Labour - Cecile

The home has been a workplace for as long as there have been homes. Homes have also been a workplace for people who don't even live in them. Even though this concept of the term "housewife" is changing, this means that people can just hire workers to work in the home. Scholars came up with the "intimate labour" to describe work that entails closseness to others. What all intimate labor has in common is that it brushes up against the line between what we think should be done for love and what we think should be done for money. Societally this is once again creating an even bigger gap between the rich and poor as the intimate workers are usually people of working class. So they leave their home to go take care of the rich peoples kids. So while their children grow up without the constant care an attention, the rich kids to get that care and love because their parents can afgord it.
