1. Background Information

    

    He was a South African politician and philanthropist who was President of south African from 1994 to 1999. He was the country’s first black head of state and the first elected in fully representative democratic election and was a global advocate for human rights. He helped bring and end to apartheid, (apartheid was a system of racial segregation in South African under this the rights, associations and movements of the majority black inhabitants and other ethnic groups were curtailed) Mandela destroyed that by tackling institutionalised racism and fostering racial reconciliation.

2. Obstacles and how he overcame them?

-1956: Arrested for High Treason: The Treason Trial takes up most of Mandela's time over the next few years but he  is found not guilty in Treason Trial.

-1968 - Mandela's mother and oldest son are killed in a car crash. Mandela is not allowed to attend funerals.

In prison a while later under the Suppression of Communism Act, Mandela was to meet cruelty, deprivation and indignity every day at the hands of his white prison guards. Nelson Mandela refused to hate them.

-Through it all Nelson never lost his faith or his focus and became victorious over all.

-Striving to become a Master of the prison he served time in at Robbins Island was an incredible challenge .

-When his comrades believe he had "sold out" was also a very challenging period of his life.

-His guilt over putting his family second to his career was evident in these letters to his beloved Winnie from prison: frontline: the long walk of nelson mandela: the prisoner.

-In spite of all the dilemmas Nelson Mandela had survived , his own son's death from AIDS was the most traumatic and indeed the most difficult as well as his own battle with prostrate cancer and tuberculosis.

3. Reason why you find him inspirational

We  find inspirational because he was a human being who had to spend much time in the jail. However he kept always seeking peace and equal rights as theirs were violated by depriving him of his freedom. The circumstances that led him to seek equal rights and racial equality tells us that a person who fight every time against abuses by their skin color. for this it is very important for us to emphasize his integrity to never try to harm their essence and always fight what the correct believed. In addition Nelson Mandela not also become a national emblem, he was the first character to leave a message for humanity that goes beyond follow some rights but who taught that despite the adversities of life should always fight for what believed and what makes us happy. and more reasons why Nelson Mandela is an inspiring person for us.
