One major takeaway that I have from the book is that history has been repeating itself and many people have not stood up knowing what is going on. People of color have always been discriminated against in this country and sometimes even unconsciously. She was successful because she used evidence and statistics that were explained clearly.

One major takeaway from the book is that allot of different rules cases and issues have been showed and how a seemingly unflawed country is truly flawed even if it isn't seen on the outside it is flawed on the inside. Overall I do think Alexander was successful in convincing me of her argument because of all the points that were brought up.

One major takeaway that I got from the book was that discrimination will never go away even after restless, peaceful and sometimes bloody protest. Truth is, it is allowed to discriminate on former criminals, and okay to remember their past pushing them further into the dirt of society. I got a glimpse of what it was like to live in the 20th century and thanks to Alexander who revealed the unfair reality of America. Bryan Lara

One major takeaway that I got from the book was explaining about the separation of whites and blacks, which doesn't use the words that are racist, but instead uses the laws in order to arrest black people and discriminate them as criminals. I think Alexander was able to convince me because she explains the history of how the black people were treated.

How blacks lives were taken away from them over racial segregation. Alexander convince me that blacks were always targeted as criminals.

one major takeaway from the book is how separated whites and blacks are without most people realizing. black people face a lot more challenges than white people do. she was able to convince me because she shows through out history, how blacks have been treated regarding the criminal system.-hunter randall
