However, I work on the Maternal Newborn unit (new moms and new babies!!) and that comes with its own unique sub-culture. We are a "baby friendly" hospital which means we encourage what research has shown is best for newborns! We encourage moms to breastfeed and have our own breastfeeding specialist on staff every day to help. We let babies sleep in the same rooms as the moms instead of leaving them in a nursery. In Utah...the church is cultural as much as it is spiritual. I was raised LDS or "Mormon". My parents are two individual people with their own life experiences who raised three girls and no boys in their own special way.
