I chose the first painting because it shows the perceptions of how prison employees see the incarcerated.

The ideas in this painting are important because while prison guards are not necessarily the same as cops were they are given the motto of protect and serve however they should still treat prisoners as humans. They are still humans although they committed a crime doesn't mean they entirely lost their humanity.

My ideas about the painting are similar to my classmates because we both agreed that the prisoners' treatment shows how flawed the system is, and how biases persist in the justice system.

I chose the third painting because it reminded me about Hinton and how his story made me view this painting from a different perspective.

The ideas of this painting are important because it shows the injustices of the government system and creates conflict and bias towards colored people. It opens up to the conversation of a failed society and how history has carried out through present day.

My ideas are similar to my classmate Lailah because she also believes that the system has failed and how that creates a bias when it comes to the courtroom and where it's decided if they go to prison or not.
