For my groups final/Ratliffian essay, we created an element called Fluidity. Fluidity is the continuous smoothing sound within a specific song. It is most commonly with little spaces in between the notes. The song may also add additional instruments, notes, with a smooth transition between parts of the song, with no jumpiness. It's almost as if this element gives the song a timeless feeling. For my part in the essay, I talked about how it was the environment that I grew in is what affected the way I listen to music. Dad and I would always listen to the 80's as a kid, so tend to go for more timeless classics, that have a groovy yet fluid feel to them. The songs I included in this essay are "Careless Whisper," covered by Hideki Saijo, and "Plastic Love," by Mary Takeuchi. Both of these songs created such a smooth and timeless environment, and were also from the 80's. In a way, these songs give a personal connection to the element. Take the time to enjoy this Padlet and get a preview of our final essay on Fluidity.

This is one of the songs, in which I included in the essay. It has such a powerful influence in the world of music, at its prime era. The continuous beats of the bass and guitar give it a timeless feel which makes the song so smooth and easy to transition to. It is an enjoyable song to listen too, as well as proves fluidity well.

I chose this song to be included in the essay as it proves fluidity is such a smooth musical element. The bass, and guitar in the background have this continuous tone throughout the entire song. This makes it have such a smooth transition from he verse, to the chorus, and to the bridge. Finally, the ending is beautiful as it fades out with the same continuous beat.
