I think this book was very different than most books about success. It focused more on how people got ahead and what different connections they had, if any. He has a different view point on how people became successful. They were not just handed the success, they had to work for it. Even though some were given better opportunities, they took them and ran with them. Which put them ahead of others. Gladwell doesn't see the outliers as people who were given everything. I enjoyed this book because it was very truthful and encouraging. e

What is interesting is the statistics of when you were born and a person's culture. Its a factor that shows favor to some being more successful in areas over others. While this is not a key source of success it is a factor that helps. The other half to the story of a persons success is the 10,000 rule. We must not only look to the outside forces and circumstances that produce success but also look within ourselves and take responsibility to make the most of what we have

I personally find Malcolm Gladwell's take on the topic of success to be quite unique and interesting. I think the way he thinks about success somehow depicts that he also considers himself an Outlier. I am not that fond of reading books but I have to say that this was worth the time and effort.

It was very interesting to see someone actually put a trend I had subconsciously noted, in that while the individual can do great things and their actions can result in them being these grand successes, a lot of what can influence that results from their upbringing and the situation. It shows how things have to take place at the right place and time for outliers to appear.
