We have times when we are formal, for example at events or church but the rest of the time we have a lot of slang that we use among siblings and even with my parents. There aren’t very many topics that we would consider horribly taboo either so we talk and joke about a lot of things that would not be considered formal. Most people in my family aren’t afraid to let eachother know how they feel and let it be hashed out if it needs to be. I would say that the only exception is my older sister and myself who tend to play things a little more passive aggressive. I would say that my dad makes decisions about things that neither of them care about that much but when my mom has an opinion she will usually get her way,. On larger issues, however, that they both care about, they usually talk about it a lot and then make a decision together. In addition to just attending church we would do things like praying before we eat dinner and praying before we go to sleep. In those ways I guess some religious practices were taught by example from my mom and dad.
