Sarma means "wrapping" or "rolling" in English. It is a traditional food in Ottoman cuisine and in our country Turkiye! It is made of vegetable leaves rolled around a filling of minced meat, grains such as rice, or both. It is commonly marketed in the English-speaking world as "Stuffed grape leaves", "Stuffed vine leaves", or "Stuffed cabbage leaves".

But some people often confuse sarma with dolma. If you are one of them, don't be upset! There's a small difference after all, let me tell you:

We do not roll or wrap the ingredients when we are making dolma. Dolma refers to peppers stuffed with minced lamb or beef, rice, onion, salt, pepper. Carrots, greens, tomato paste, and spices can be added to the filling. When grape leaves are stuffed with the same filling, however, they are called sarma.

Turkish delight or lokum is a family of confections based on a gel of starch and sugar. Premium varieties consist largely of chopped dates, pistachios, hazelnuts or walnuts bound by the gel; traditional varieties are often flavored with rosewater, mastic gum, bergamot orange, coconut, or lemon. Other common flavors include cinnamon and mint. The confection is often packaged and eaten in small cubes dusted with icing sugar, copra, or powdered cream of tartar to prevent clinging.

We usually serve them when we have guests and at bayrams (Religious festivals).

The "Mother" church holds some of the most beautiful and significant titles that the Catholic Church can bestow upon its buildings: Pontifical Basilica, Insigne Collegiate, and Diocesan Marian Sanctuary.

In the presbytery of the Sanctuary is the large “Serassi” organ from 1863, which functions perfectly and accompanies all solemn liturgies. Also in the presbytery is the 18th-century wooden choir, intricately carved from walnut, used by the canons of the Collegiate Chapter.
