When we went back her and I started getting closer. I then got my grades up and we would talk about topics that were outside of school.

I had a seventh grade teacher for my math and instead of me telling her I barely understood, I stayed quiet. I'm not sure if its because I was lazy or too shy. I mean we would talk about stuff I think I was just to embarrassed to ask. 

How does this relate to the theme?

This example relates because I ended up getting C's and D's in her class and my parents were disappointed.
