The prisoners were organized based off their nationality. There were kapos to supervise those imprisoned, and they determined whether an individual were to live or die. Prisoners suffered from physical exhaustion, meager rations, and extremely harsh treatment. Living conditions were a nightmare as there were too many people and too little space. Because of that, most individuals would be sent to a gas chamber in order to make space for the new prisoners. There were occasional check ups in which they examined your health and determined whether you should be killed off as well. On the other hand, extermination camps were built to kill prisoners immediately upon arrival.
