This happened after a race finished and one of the Korean Skaters did not make a good time in a race. One of the Korean skaters said, "We were skating well but one of our skaters could not keep up." This can lead to some controversy because it could lead to a scandal in speed skating. </div>]]></description>

It is a basic tag team relay similar to the 4x400m relay in track. The Norwegian defeated the Dutch and hosts Korea. The Dutch ended up finishing 3rd and beat New Zealand. This was news because Norway was not project to finish this well in the standings. Norway is typically good at speed skating but they supposed to have a down year but still got a gold medal. </div>]]></description>

The United States as a whole including men, had not won a medal in speed skating since 2010. Though it was a bronze medal, nonetheless it was still a medal. Typically, Japan and the Netherlands had been untouchable in the sport and won every world competition since 2014. </div>]]></description>

Recently, countries have expected to make a profit off of the Olympics because there are television broadcasting deals that can bring in millions of dollars. Before the games, Hwa expressed her intent and desire to win in her home country. She was emotional after failing to do so.
