I've tried to create a kid-friendly atmosphere that the students can't help but be drawn to and interested in. My students help me come up with the puns that I use in my monthly/seasonal displays in the Media Center, as well as our yearly themes. Students also serve as my book models for my bulletin board in the hallway. I post random pics of my library displays and book models on Twitter and Instagram. I am fortunate to work with awesome students and staff!
Twitter: @emmy_fiala
Instagram: huskyreader

The BreakoutEDU has brought collaborative, game-based learning to our school environment.

Hi! Amy Tasich here, from Lewis and Clark Middle School in Bellevue. One of the biggest changes to our library has been our Makerspace. With this area, students are given the chance to choose what they would like to explore and many teachers have begun incorporating these items into their classes and lessons. This way students are able to choose projects that fit their skills, abilities, and interests. Recently, we had one teacher use Minecraft as a project option in her historical fiction unit, which was awesome! I have included a link to a blog post from last year with some highlights of our Makerspace.
http://scoutlibrary.weebly.com/whats-going-on-in-the-library/taste-of-makerspace
Twitter: @AmyTasich

Mollie has found her voice in our library. Mollie and I have known each other since she was a 3rd grader. She adores cats and has read every book in our library on the subject. This year, Mollie's teacher came to me asking for books to help Mollie transition to fiction. We started with Crenshaw by Applegate, which she consumed in a day. She was back for more. I then suggested the Warrior series by Erin Hunter. She was hooked! She has since worked with several classmates, her classroom teacher and I to create a Warriors book club, helped coordinate a Google Classroom and has begun to write fan fiction based on the series. And the best part, it's all been her work, her ideas, her leadership. She's found her voice.

I can't keep them on my shelves. My students
LOVE them!! I love getting student input on what books to buy for the library for checkouts. I cannot wait to implement them for my youngest students who love to read, but may struggle. Bring on the love of reading! There are so many ways to enjoy reading and Playaways are one way I am incorporating that into my library!
