1. The video we were assigned as homework deals with use of "edmodo" in classroom setting that had a handful of students who needed extra support. In my understanding the teacher found it useful because it enabled her to paste class notes on the website and students could go home and still have access to the class resources.

2. Students can practice the skills learnt in class on the quiz questionnaires available at EDMODO and teacher gets to review the responses and thus analyse that which concept needs to be retaught. 

3. Technology can also be used to graph student performance on class assessments and hence chalk down the weak areas for every student that can be individually reinforced by the teacher.

So yes the gist of it is that technology does help students learn better and teachers teach better.

Adding technology as a tool is an effective way to connect with students who are learning at different pace.
Class and homework assignments can be posted on class website for students to access later at their convenience if they need help with material learned in class.
It also encourages individual learning and helps in knowledge retention.
It’s easy for teachers as well as they can keep track of each and every student’s growth or if someone is having difficulty in class.

  • improves engagement. When technology is integrated into lessons, students are expected to be more interested in the subjects they are studying.
  • For the child, the ability to finish and submit homework electronically, lower the chances of forgetting to submit or lose homework sheets.
  • Having the option to rely on technology make scheduling easier. With tools like google calendar, and other calendar apps, a student can have all assignment in the calendar. And Google can remind him or her to study for a test. It can also show the list of project scheduled for the following week, making it easier to plan ahead.
  • Plus, teachers are more accessible as many are on social media for the students to contact them and ask questions.

  • If we want our children to succeed at school and be able to utilize technology, we need to set boundaries. Discuss with your child the appropriate time and place to use technology.
  • Use parental control tools to block their usage off their devices when it’s time for homework.

    The teaching strategies being used by the teacher in the assigned video are discussion and guided discovery. The teacher is using technology as means to teach the students and getting their feedback using a systematic tool which does not require any traditional checking and papers to go through. The software being used is providing her the results by accessing the tasks performed by the students online, using which she is able to identify the weaknesses and strengths of the students regarding the subject and is able to guide them accordingly. This tool is helping her in  getting the good results as well.

    Technology can help a teacher to make her lesson more effective and it can involve demonstration of the curriculum through an audio visual or a powerpoint presentation including some graphs and tables which would leave the impact on the students for a longer time span. It also saves time and hassle of drawing or writing on the white boards.
