The temperance movement was started because people believed that alcohol caused many problems. Men would go to work, recieve their pay, go to the bars and get drunk, then go home to their families broke and drunk which ended with the men usually hurting his family. The temperance movement resulted in the 18th amendment being passed. The impact it had on me and society is that it kept a lot of families safer. It also causes us to become more aware of the impact of alcohol and to watch our consumption of it.

The Triangle Shirtwaist Fire was a devastating fire in New York City. It impacted society by passing multiple laws protecting workers. Those laws include: minimum wage, maximum work hours, and outlawing child labor. It effected me because I have a job now and I am required by law to be paid minimum wage with a maximum number of hours a week.
