Wean yourself off single-use plastics.</strong></p><p><strong>2. Stop buying bottled water.</strong></p><p><strong>3. Boycott microbeads.</strong></p><p><strong>4. To do the desalination you can use the thermal distillation method which consists in heat the water so the salt will evaporate and after that the vapor condenses into pure fresh water. So, no, the desalination is not good for the environment because it has significant impacts, primarily from its high energy consuption and it will have a big impact in the athmosphere because of the CO2 consumption. It also ruins the inner world in the ocean and his biosphere.</p>]]></description>

It’s not only about crowding—it's about exceeding what the destination can support.</p><p><strong>• Environmental consequences</strong></p><p>Tourist traffic and irresponsible behavior can damage fragile natural sites like coral reefs, beaches, and protected landscapes. Increased flights, cruises, and transport also add to global carbon emissions. Wildlife and ecosystems often deteriorate under this pressure.</p><p><strong>• Social and economic impacts</strong></p><p>Local communities feel the effects through rising housing costs, as properties are converted into short-term rentals. This leads to displacement of residents and changes the character of neighborhoods.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Maritime transport stands out as a strategic sector; the increasing trend in maritime traffic makes it essential to reduce energy consumption and emissions through investment in energy efficiency.</p><p>Analyze what factors influence investment decisions—and how they do so—when there are principal-agent problems in the shipowner–charterer relationship.</p><p>The results corroborate the hypotheses and indicate that principal-agent problems and split incentives, especially in time charter contracts, and a lack of verified information make the shipowners less likely to invest. Moreover, energy efficiency measures are less likely to be implemented in older vessels, possibly due to the difficulty associated with recovering the investment.</p>]]></description>

         <title> As plastics reach the ocean, should we replace them or reduce them? </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>We should mainly reduce the use of plastics, and only replace them when necessary. Why reduce? It is the only way to actually decrease the amount of plastic entering the ocean. </p><p>Less production = less waste, less pollution, fewer microplastics. </p><p>The effects are immediate: fewer single-use items, more reuse, better recycling. And replacing? </p><p>It can help, but it is not a full solution.  Many “bioplastics” do not degrade in the ocean and can still cause pollution.  Replacing without reducing just swaps one problem for another. </p><p>Conclusion. The most effective solution is to reduce plastic use as much as possible, and only replace plastic when the alternatives are truly sustainable.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>In our opinion ocean fish is better for our health than farmed fish because they grown in their natural environment, so there is no human intervention and so it's more natural and healthier for us, but for our environment, in our opinion, is the oposite, the farmed fish is better than ocean fish because it prevents overfishing and fishes in the verge of extinction.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>We have made a list of the most sustainable water  sports globaly, five of them are swimming, surfing mermaiding, windsurfing and wing foiling.</p><p>The list of the not sustainable sports have sports like jet skiing, yachting wakeboarding, kneeboarding, water skiing.</p><p>In conclusion the sustainable sports doesn't require any type of engine that is powered by any type of fuel and the not sustainable use engines or some type of motor.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Maritime transportation should generally be promoted, but only with strong environmental and safety regulations. It remains the most energy-efficient way to move large quantities of goods over long distances, and it supports the global economy by enabling affordable international trade. Ships reduce congestion on land routes and can transport bulk goods far more cost-effectively than trucks or airplanes. However, maritime transport also brings challenges, including CO₂ emissions, risks of oil spills, and negative impacts on marine ecosystems. Port cities often face pollution due to heavy ship traffic, and global supply chains that rely too heavily on maritime routes can be vulnerable to disruptions. For these reasons, maritime transportation should not be discouraged, but rather modernized with cleaner technologies and stricter international regulations. This approach allows us to keep its economic benefits while minimizing its environmental footprint.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Which is the role of the ocean in climate</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><br/></p><p>The ocean plays a critical role in climate change by acting as a buffer.</p><p>It plays a main role in:</p><ul><li><p><strong>Heat absorption:</strong> The ocean absorbs excess heat caused by global warming, and slows down the increase of atmospheric temperature</p></li><li><p><strong>Carbon absorption:</strong> It absorbs about 23-30% of human-caused carbon dioxide emissions. The ocean plays an importante role in preventing the carbon from accumulating in the atmosphere.</p></li><li><p><strong>Climate regulation:</strong> Ocean currents help to spread and redistribute heat around the globe, through this they regulate global temperatures and weather patterns.</p></li><li><p><strong>Oxygen production:</strong> Marine plants and algae produce about half of the Earth's oxygen.&nbsp;</p></li></ul><p>But there are consequences:</p><ul><li><p>The absorption of excess heat is causing the ocean's temperature to rise, leading to impacts like sea level rise due to thermal expansion.</p></li><li><p>As the ocean absorbs more </p><p>CO2, it becomes more acidic. This harms marine life with calcium carbonate shells and skeletons, such as corals and shellfish.</p></li><li><p>Warmer water holds less dissolved oxygen, which is creating low-oxygen "dead zones" that are harmful to marine ecosystems.</p></li><li><p>Warmer ocean temperatures can intensify storms and increase rainfall.&nbsp;</p></li></ul><p>In conclusion:</p><ul><li><p>The ocean plays a very importante role in regulating temperatures, but the ocean's capacity to buffer the effects of climate change is not limitless.</p></li><li><p>The oceans will eventually become overwhelmed, and the impacts will be felt more severely on land if the greenhouse gas emissions continue to rise.</p><p>Mesures to take:</p><p>To mitigate the worst impacts of climate change on the ocean and the planet, it is crucial to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and factory emissions.</p></li></ul><p><br/></p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>»Knowledge is power» - a well known quote by Francis Bacon. Yet, sometimes the morally right choice is to give up on information, in order to protect something bigger. But what is the case with the exploration of marine resources in the medical field?</p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;We believe that it is a risk that should be taken. The medical benefits of marine biodiversity are already proven and have much yet to develope. Several compounds are proven to have antibacterial effect which is of great importance, since bacterial infections are a leading cause of death in the underdeveloped countries. Moreover, marine bioactives have demonstrated the qualities of anticancer compounds. The ocean´s biodiversity has given us hopes for possibly finding a drug to deal with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). To summarise, marine species have been proven to have antioxidant, antimicrobial, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, anti-obesity and sleep-enhancing properties.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;Still there is a negative side which should not be overlooked. Harvesting marine resources can have a bad impact on the environment if it isn´t done in a sustainable way. One must be careful of exploiting the ocean´s biodiversity, which is always a problem for humanity, as experience has already shown us. Moreover, the production of organisms is dependant on the environment so it can not be relied on.</p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Although we looked at both sides of the problem, we still believe that marine resources could be a key to a big health revolution and should be explored. Even though there might be bad consequences for the nature, it is not morally right to ignore the opportunity to cure such serious sicknesses. The potential to save countless human lives, now and in the future, must be taken into consideration.</p><p><br></p>]]></description>
