Motivation as a mentor

From me, ikhlas bila kita dilantik as mentor bcus

1. Kita tolong cikgu, ringankan kerja cikgu jugak. Drpd ni, cikgu slalu ingat kat kita + berkat ilmu kita pada dia.

2. Kita Sama2 tolong batch kita untuk Sama2 naik. Even though kita rasa sikit, tapi insya Allah, Allah akan balas jasa kita.

After spm, my mentees semua cerita kat sy how they aced the subject I mentoring them. Even kkdg terasa hati dgn mentee and such, I feel happy for them srs. And diorg akan ingat jasa korg. Kan mentees bertukar2 kkdg, and even I dah tak jadi mentor dorg, dorg still ingat my efforts. Sumpah rasa terharu gila.

And bila korg rasa down, korg rasa korg tak layak jadi mentor. Just trust your teachers. Bcus they can see what's in us and kelebihan kita. I once mintak kat cikgu taknak jadi mentor, sbb i takut effect study since my markah dropped (haha). But the tcr still say no, they even keep encouraging me. Ada sumpah sekali aku jadi mentor to dua org insan ni and I deadass cried. Sbb aku tahu susah nak jaga dorg, academically and their behavior (+aku pempuan and both of them lelaki) tapi cikgu tekan kan jugak. Alhamdulillah I scored my bio even masa f5 tu tak penah dapat A lagi.

So trust yourself and your tcrs!

How to deal with mentees

1. Don't force them

Tu member kita. Kita bukan cikgu, kita mentor. Especially kalau masa hujung2, masing2 busy dgn diri sendiri. Kau offer je dorg ajak study sekali, siapa yang bersungguh, dorg akan dtg. Kalau tkde dtg pon, rugi dorg. Make them comfortable with you(u pon kenalah). Kalau nak gurau sumtimes, chill out. Tpi time ada serious tu kena serious tau.

2. Don't be afraid to show your weakness.

Katalah u tak pandai certain tajukkan, it's okay to show u tak mahir. You also a student kannn. Once u realised your weakness, jumpa cikgu.

3. One foot ahead from your mentees.

Being a mentor kkdg is an advantage tau. Sbb dia mcm mrsm tumpat, korg study dulu then keep ulang kaji. So, if you're well prepared and u keep teach 'em, nnti melekat kat kepala u jugak. So win win.

kadang ii rse terbeban gak kene ajar mentee ni . sbb kite nak study utk kite lagi but at the same time kene faham betul ii supaya dapat ajar orang lain :( tapi caye lah takkan pernah rugi pun ajar orang lain . sbb semakin bnyk yg u ajar , semakin banyak Allah bagi u faham some topics tu . ingat jangan pernah kedekut ilmu ^^ jangan perlekehkan orang tu kalau die tk faham eventho dh ajar bnyk kali . cth: "mu ni hkni pun tk pehe ko? mudoh jah ni" ❌ sbb pandai pun rezeki drpd Allah . bile ii mase je Allah nk tarik balik rezeki kite tu :) so , pls be nice to your mentee hihi . pastu pls ignore toxic people . kalau one day diorang kata u mcm tu mcm ni . kata u kedekut ilmu ke eventho kite selalu ajar orang . prove them wrong ! biarkan tin kosong terus berbunyi hehe . pastu kuatkan bonding antara mentor ii . sbb dgn diorang je kite bleh share problem yg kite tgh hadap mcm mentee tknk belajar ke haaa .

HOW TO DEAL WITH YOUR MENTEE ??

senang je . diorang taknak dengar lantak diorang la HAHAHHAHAHAAH . tapi sebelum tu cuba untuk tarik diorang belajar ^^ mcm buat kls addmath every malam jumaat ke . pastu bagi je coklat ke ape as reward utk diorang supaya diorang lagi semangat hoho . pastuuuu pls show your proud to them . kalau diorang naik markah even sikit je ??? bg thu diorang yang kite ni bangga hoho plus tenangkan diorang , support diorang haa . barulah mentee rse selesa dgn mentor 🤩 yakinkan diorang yg diorang pun bleh jadi berbisa mcm kite hehe . pastu setiap kali cg ii sruh duduk dgn mentee ii , dduk laa dgn diorang . ajar ! okey pastu kalau la one day gaduh dgn mentee , PLEASE LOWERED YOUR EGO ☹️ biarlah kite yg mengalah sbb macam td la kite tk rugi pun kalau ajar diorang ☹️ ingt jadi mentor pun amanah juga ye hihi

it felt so impossible at first bcs i'm a slow learner compared to my friends.

i always cari jalan and keep tanya mentor soalan soalan basic addmath bcs dri soalan tu la kite akan collect markah utk lulus. my result since form 4 tk pernah lulus sampaila trial macam tu jgk tapi Allah tu maha adil sbb Dia takkan khianati sapa yg berusaha.alhamdullilah for my spm addmath result i didn't manage to get A but atleast i lulus and diluar jangkaan jgk la..sbb i tak pernah lulus and wht do u expect?

i tk dpt straight a's for spm but my result change a lot dripada exam sem and my trial also:) ni semua berkat daripada mentor yg selalu tunjuk ajar soalan and topics yg kurang faham:// thank you to all mentor mentor sbb selalu ada dgn mentee yg selalu perlukan korang semoga ni salah satu asbab korang masuk syurga one day:p

before spm phase i just to work harder and harder even sometimes i keep blaming myself for being slow learner but alhamdullilah the struggle paid off now,

this is how Allah shows me that the things that important in our life is not about how talented and smart we are but how much effort we would give in changing ourselves to become better! please don't give up now my dearest junior:) jalan awak panjang lagi bukan bermakna awak gagal skrg,awk gagal spm no.

Frankly,saya tk pernah mintak pun nk jadi ketua mentor sebab jaga diri sendiri pun tk mampu apatah lagi nk jaga batch yng tkde harapan(Dlu).But,apabila kita diberi tanggungjawab,lagi2 dari seorang cikgu.Do it!!! sebab keberkatan kita belajar pun dri cikgu.Ingat klu nk berkat ilmu kita kene ad keberkatan dri cikgu.this is the most fundamental thing.But in my first job,tkyah cakap ah memang sem satu tu tkde satu pun mentor yang dengar cakap aku ( ad tpi skit) sebab dlu aku tklah hebat macam dorang and dorg pentingkan diri sendiri(sorry to say guys).My first project is flashcard(but it didnt go well).mentor mentee still ad tapi you know dorg prefer sendiri2.At that time,aku rasa sangat sedih2 and feel no hope at all(i'm always crying when i got this position)im doing my best but its not enough.

But,aku tk pernah give Up untuk tolong dorang!!!

aku buat group with help of my friends and teachers(mentor2 bio) and ad skit paksaan dalam membuat kerja.

aku selalu buat kelas time cuti ke time prep(ad masa aku buat online) just for nak communicate dengan dorang bagi lagi selesa.(i also create a module for them).Just to make them changed aku korbankan everything included time and it was worth it.

SO,MY FIRST TIPS FOR THE MENTORS.

-if dorang tknk belajar(your mentees)korg bulih buat kelas not only for your mentees but with all.so that the mentees can gain your trust.Aku dlu bukan bio je aku buat kelas semua subjek aku buat sebab bila kita ajar orang,automaticaly kita pun sedang generate otak kita.Jadi beranikan diri ajar orang sebab berkat ajar orang tu dapat buat kita lebih pandai.(Trust me aku dh buat and jadi).Also,kebanyakan mente takut jumpa cikgu and bila jumpa je cakap faham(pdhl tk faham) so its your job to guide them.I know you all can do it.(if mentees nk buat kelas pun bulih)

SECONDLY,

-mentor please jangan ego or kedekut ilmu with your mentee.Knowing what kita sama2 struggle for getting a higher result.Kita semua nk banggakan parent kita.Why not kita buat sama2 bagi berjaya sama2.Being a mentor is a bless as kita dpt berkat lebih lgi skit sebab kita tolong cikgu kita and kita tolong kawan kita.SO LOWER YOUR EGO AND BE NICE!!bgi dia share kesusahan dia dlm belajar and kita solve sama2 atau secara halus2.(aku dlu kalau mentee aku nk tidur dalam kelas aku beli coklat banyak2 ad sekali DAIM AHAHAH)

aku dlu memg terbeban lah tkyah ckp ketua mentor lagi,Robo lagi Presiden PUM lagi and so on.But i can still help my friend.So that's not possible to help each other.You will see the differences it you try this method.

SELF REWARD FOR MENTEES

-ahahah ni if kita berkemampuan skit kita try bagi hadiah kat mentee kita klau result dia naik sebab dia akan rasa appreciate and lebih motivasi untuk belajar.Time tu kita akan acah jadi mcm cikgu lak AHAHAh.Feel proud to yourself sebab telah mengubah hidup seseorang><.Just give them "meh aku belanja koop kalu mu A physic"would make them motivate.

HOW I MANAGE MY TIME?

-so,based on my experience saya manage masa saya dengan:

-saya akan belajar bab satu awal (adv) sebelum belajar as dia akan buat kita mudah faham sebab kita dh baca dh awl2(biasanya saya akan buat apabila saya ad event2 pergi robo ke supaya saya tk tertinggal pelajaran)for sukan lovers(if rajin minta latihan kt cikgu for you to follow up your studies).

and at class saya memang fokus gilerr

(one tips please jangan tertidur dlm kelas kalau ngantuk minta nk cuci muka dalam tandas) and time rehat saya banyak korbankan masa saya pergi bilik guru and bertanya soalan everyday.

-so time petang memang me time saya tinggal semua pelajaran and go for jogging(to relax my mind) ad masa saya sedih or saya happy saya luahkan kt minjaroes ahahahaahahah(saya jerit kuat2 kt ladang nenas belakang gunung).so if stress pergi lah minjaroes(jgn naik tangki lak).ingat "HEALTHY MIND COME FROM A HEALTHY BODY).

-and waktu prep saya akan buat HW but kalau semua dh siap saya akan beranikan diri ajar kawan saya(to improve my knowledge) and share with my friend.

and after prep(time tu kalu hg nk rehat bulih rehat optional).Tetapi masa tu aku selalu akan baca buku teks belek2 jer so my mind always sharp tpi jangan bagi dia effect performance korang dalam kelas tau!!

-and if you bangun awal buatlah solat:

-tahajud

-taubat

-hajat

for your keberkatan dalam belajar kita minta yang MAHA ESA dlu untuk lebih mudah masuk.And dhuha jangan tinggal rezeki melimpah ruah if you consistent kan bende ni(aku pernah buat and alhamdulilah)

MY STRATEGY TO HELP MY FRIEND

-so after all the downs ( masa trial result semua rendah) saya memang sedih sebab dibawah jagaan saya Bio became worst.But my friend give me support and kitorang buat program one day one essay.jadi (antara maghrib&isya/lepas isya) kitorang amik masa 10 minit bincangkan esai(imade the module with my bio mentors) soalan trial to improve our content.kitorang memang buat macamtu so that all the mentors akan jadi function as dorang kene ajar mentee dorang.At that time lah,bond kitorang jadi lebih rapat,aku jadi lebih yakin dalam ajar dorang.and alhamdulilah all the thing that kitorng bincang masuk SPM!!!!!!!! As i say,kita ajar orang kita dpt berkat kita dpt score bersama dengan dorang.SO BATCH COMMUNICATION IS FUNDAMENTAL TOO!NO PUAK2 OKEY.

• kalau tertdo dlm kls , make sure utk bljr terus ape yg cg ajar dlm kls tu haa . pandai ii laa tgk kat yt ke tiktok ke . takkan tk bwk hp 😋

• cuba utk bkk skit buku sebelum tdo . 1 page pun dh cukup janji bacaa

• kalau u siang person , so study la siang hari . kalau u night person , study la mlm . tp kene ingt la kalau letih TIDURR zzz . pagi esk sambung plk ^^

• tak faham tnye bukan acah ii pandai sampai spm HAHAHAHAHHAHA

• sye suggest tgk yt cg afifi utk phy 😁 phy sye A 😁

• for chem , wajib hafal warna and characteristics . mcm biasakan bende tu . cth: kalau tgk warna pokok kayu , so ingt la Cu metal warna brown . haa mcm tu laa . sbb kalau kite biasakan bende yg simple mcm tu , insha'Allah chem A+ 😁

yup x pernah terlintas sekali pun apa yg dilaungkan di luar dewan bitara pada hari penentu masa hadapan kini telah menjadi kenyataan dan telah terukir sejarah di mrsm jeli pada hari ini dan selama-lamanya.

so aku nk share skit experience yang aku dapat selama 2 tahun kt sini.

tbh aku bukan org yang into study that much tpi aku sedar bila aku dapat tawaran mrsm, aku tau yg ada org kt luar sana lebih layak duduk kt tempat ni, jadi nk xnk aku mmg kne study lah kan, xpernah skli pun aku rse aku put my whole heart into my study.

there's a catch, dalam beberapa bulan kt maktab aku belajar la mcm student biasa, aku masuk kelas, buat hw semua kan, aku buat tu dalam keadaan yang mcm rela x rela sbb tengok kiri kanan wktu prep org duk buat hw kan xkan aku nk gi main game plk, so aku kira mcm terpaksa la belajar biar wktu prep duk tgk buku member pun kdg2 salin skema terus.

tiba2 somehow satu hari tu, satu intrusive thoughts crossed up my mind, drpd instead aku buat semua ni asal siap baik aku go deeper into it sbb bkan aku ada bnde lain nak buat kt sini. so this time aku x fhm aku start cari org yang pandai boleh ajar aku bab yg aku kurang sampai aku fhm, start search yt addmath or math punya solution jalan kira semua. dulu klu dlam kelas klu xfhm biar je la kan tpi this time aku start cari cg apa yang dia ajar aku kurang fhm. time ni la aku start lepak dgn dorang ni sbb aku dpt rse dorang dalam case yang sama dgn aku (mungkin x) aku perasan yg dorang start to develop something in themself yang dorang pun start minat belajar.

aku pendekkan jela cerita ni, ap yg aku nk sampaikan kt sini kdg2 semua bnde tu perlu dtg dgn paksaan tpi insyaallah segala paksaan itu akan didampingi dgn keikhlasan satu masa nnt. klu ikutkan nk share bnyk lagi tpi smpai sini je la nk cerita panjang2 kita lepak satu meja baru best kan.

p/s: kdg2 dlm belajar ni kita kne ada personal catalyst skit baru semangat nk gi kelas or study, x kisah lah kelas lain ke kelas sendiri asalkan ada tpi jgn lebih2 plak ke lain nnt jadinya

HOW TO DEAL WITH MENTEE

aku nk share satu je cara aku approach mentee aku utk study.

so apa yang aku buat biasanya, time wktu free kt kelas either cg x masuk or wktu rehat ke aku slalu buat handout yang cg bagi kt dlm kelas seb mentee aku sambil2 aku buat aku tanya la dia ada apa2 nak aku tlg tak utk handout ni (biasanya aku akan siapkan awl any handout (mungkin bio x kot) so bila ada org tanya aku aku dh tau nk buat mcm mne), ni cara aku remind mentee aku nk buat handout la atau nk ajak dia study sbb aku jenis yang x suka paksa sbb kdg2 org ni pelik skit klu kita ajak direct mesti dia malas.

xleh nk share bnyk sbb org yg aku certified as a mentor is all my teachers only :D

First came into mrsm as form 4 student and want to be the best out of me. Got chosen to be mentor and it’s not really hard and easy at all. Yall just overreacted haha. Maybe some of you guys thought become a mentor is adding to your burden especially dh nak dekat spm. I could agree with that but have you ever felt thrilled when orang yang korang ajar berterima kasih and use your teaching method untuk ajar orang lain? Of course the answer is yes. In fact pahala kau mengalir hasil ilmu yang kau share. Tak rugi pon spend an hour dgn mentee untuk bincang soalan. It’s like the time you spend is paid by knowledge. Why paid by knowledge sedangkan kau mentor? Sbb akan ada satu masa kau tk dapat ajar mentee kau and the table turns which is mentee yang ajar kau. kalau kau sampai tahap tu bukannya bermakna kau tkde value as mentor, kau just learn something new yang kau tak tau tpi mentee kau tau. Don’t be afraid kalau kau tk dapat ajar mentee, you are not Albert Einsten to know everything. He even couldn’t finish theory of relativity lol. Lastly, penting ke academic validation as a mentor? As for me it’s just for compliments and sense of existence among teachers. Nothing gonna do about it. Aku tak tau kenapa aku kejar bende alah tu since form 4. Maybe untuk tunjuk potential diri and want to be known kot. tapi apa apa pun cikgu akan ingat kau as their student, kalau tak ingat pon sbb u r not the only student. Tapi yang penting member member yang kau ajar akan sentiasa ingat kau as their mentor. Lastly, buatlah yang terbaik every exam so kau boleh dipercayai cikgu untuk bimbing rakan yang lain.

How to deal with mentee

1. aku jujur aku tak pandai mengajar TT. Kalau aku mengajar je mesti ade salah tkpon tkde confident. So kalau tkde confident mesti mentee tk percayakan aku kan? so one of the way untuk mentee letak kepercayaan atas aku adalah dengan yakinkan diorang dgn ilmu yang aku share. Aku akan letak some enthusiastic on my fav topic and just jujur topic mana yang aku lemah. From that mentee akan faham then korang bole belajar sama-sama.

2. Macam mana kalau ada mentee yang tak serasi? Let them choose their mentor. Untuk kebaikan dia untuk belajar juga.

3. Lastly, reward lah sikit untuk achivement diorang. Give a warm compliment so diorang yakinang diorang boleh dapat result cemerlang.

1.Do your best for your mentee

when you are responsible to be a mentor,do your best to teach your mentee,kalau kita besungguh nak ajar insyAllah mereka pun bersungguh nak belajar><.Plus encorage your mentee.How??For me,i always use a hand gesture while teaching them or making an easy example or explanation related to the surrounding.Contoh,for bio ><bayangkan golgi apparatus macam jnt express function jnt dia akan pack barang and hantar barang kita kat cutomer yg order barang tu,macam gogli apparatus dia akan process,pack and transport protein ke sel2 tertentu.

2.High expectation

when you bocome a mentor expect the unexpected things,yess when kita as a mentor in a certain subject they will expect you pandai semua ,phy,chem,addmaths tapi takk,kita pun perlukan mentor jugak untuk belajar.

3.Tell the truth

pernah tak kita macam takut nak ajr orang,takut dia tak faham apa yang kita ajar dan kita pun sebenarnya tak pandai certain topic in that subject,atau pernah ajar benda mengarut.Tell the truth to your mentee and surely they will understand.The first way you can study is try to deeply undersatand the topic before you're gonna teach them or ask your teacher and friend.Second,you can study together and try to to understand together,so that they will not depend just on you,atau boleh belajar sama sama dengan mentor lain..it doesn't mean kita ni tak layak jadi mentor,we're not a robot that all those things we're master.Take your time and give space to yourself okiee.

HOW TO DEAL WITH MENTEE

>sometimes we feel burdened,lost or rasa tak layak jadi mentor sebab kita pun ada banyak benda nak belajar,but trust me kita bagi ilmu kat orang insyAllah tak akn rugi walaupun sekecil kecilnya.Kalau masa tu kita sibuk sangat suruh mentee belajar dulu or baca dulu,kalau tak faham tanya.For me,saya akan suruh mentee saya baca dulu for their own understanding and kalau tak faham terus tanya,so that dia akan tahu dia tengah baca apa sekarang/ada idea.

>Celebrate the improvement/reward

clebrate or congratulate your mentee even if they have made a small improvement.How??you can give sticky notes with warm word or gives sweet candy,tak perlu mahal mahal,cukup mereka rasa usaha mereka dihargai><Lastt Don't ever compare yourself with your mentee.Everyone has a different journey/story to sucess and has their capabilities.Maybe not now but surely they will come.
