         <description><![CDATA[<div>Our overall conclusion is that with the 5 major extinctions the thing that really affected evolution was V.I.S.T. In the Cambrian extinction if there hadn't been variation we would most likely not exist. Natural selection is the key component in extinction, surviving species must adapt to their surroundings. Mutation and natural selection go hand and hand, the good mutations are naturally selected. From all the remaining species came humans, whether it was from divergent, convergent or parallel evolution. If you think about all the ways humans could have turned out it comes down to sexual selection and genetic drift, genetic drift is really only possible with sexual selection, which is a preference an animal makes over another. With species being in close relation to each other your often see homologous structures, same body parts in animals used in different ways. Some species have vestigial organs or useless organs while a species that is closely related has the same organ only its used. Species that were left after major extinctions are often hard to recognize because of molecular evolution, or genes and dna changing over time. </div>]]></description>
