The concept of my design aims to re - brand a product, such as a shoe brand that currently lacks storytelling as a branding technique, in exchange for branding visuals that encompass the key ideas of storytelling. These key components of storytelling will be derived from the results of my research from the essay in order to promote the brand in a new and successful way. My approach will consist of a visualisation of my dissertation topic, and I will visualise this by creating either a mock up billboard or a mock up zine of my own digital illustrations that I have created. Creating digital illustrations for this project allows me to collate my research of storytelling in the context of branding, and utilise my findings to create visual work and thus inform my practice. By placing these illustrations onto billboard mockups puts these illustrations into a professional format and will help the viewer contextualise my work. Re – branding a product that already exists will allow me to represent the improvements storytelling can bring by comparing it to the previous branding.

My concept was to explore the artistic possibilities of artificial intelligence creations beyond their technical aspects. Going through various case studies and references my thoughts for ‘Does artificial intelligence have artistic possibilities? ‘ was ‘no’. There are possibilities for further development for the programs, but the AIs we are dealing with today seemed to act more as an assistant. Furthermore, there were difficulties in visualizing accurately to get the exact image wanted. My aim is to show how AIs are in the position of a tool rather than an artist, by comparing the results of visual illustrations drawn by different AI programs. It will be a visualization with an image illustrated by myself and the same images made by the AIs.

- For my element two I am illustrating two 6-8 panel comic strips starring Walt Disney characters that have been redesigned to be more culturally appropriate and diverse.
- My aim is for these comic strips to clearly address the issues of racism and sexism in the Disney universe by giving the characters a voice to address Mr. Disney directly and comically.
- This practical work is an extension of my dissertation in that it builds on what has been established in the written part about Disney being forced to wake up to social standards regarding race and gender.
- My design draws inspiration from comic books like Animal Man, which breaks the fourth wall on a regular basis as well as Disney's existing designs of the characters in order for me to change their appearance in a way that preserves some key elements to keep them recognizable to the reader.
- The two comic strips would be printed digitally and cheap so they could act as a sort of hand-out flyer that could be passed around to spread the word. Alternatively it could solely be left to be digital in order to reach even more people by sharing it online. This also saves paper, which should be a plus for the environment.
- My design concept of the Disney characters addressing Mr. Disney himself by breaking the fourth wall when they are unhappy with their story line supports my idea of calling out Disney on racism and sexism in a very obvious and comically way which I believe will resonate well with my audience.

For this element, I will be making a visual extension of sustainable packaging that can be reused and repurposed. I class it as sustainable as I will be using cardboard in which is biodegradable. My design will be a hanger for your top that also forms into a bag to carry the item of clothing. The repurposing of the bag/hanger will hopefully encourage reusing materials and reduce waste and pollution caused by plastic bags. I also aim to use no extra materials such as stickers to seal the box to reduce cost of design and environmental impact of what would be extra materials.

I will play with the idea of a brand such as Nike having ‘controversial’ design on the packaging to see whether people would still buy the product simply because of a brand and its identity. The idea of ‘it’s ugly but it’s Nike so I need it’’.

To show this idea visually I will create the piece using screen printing and cardboard. I will render it within a video that shows the item in function. The video will give a 360 view and show how the item folds together.

This design concept supports my dissertation as I speak on how a strong brand identity is important in the success of packaging. I also will be talking about sustainability and the future of package design to reduce pollution as many companies begin to aim for net zero by 2030. This design is one route I envision package design heading and how brands reputations may be influenced by their approach.

My design concept is to use new media art to design a system that can present history and culture and interact with the audience as a way of showing the future possibilities of the museum. For example an AR layout or a holographic projection of an extinct animal. I would like to use this design to introduce extinct animals or animals that are about to become extinct. Rather than seeing these animals in pictures and reading small lines of text on the display wall, I think a 3D projection or the inclusion of sound effects would raise the interest of the audience in learning about the species. And people would be more willing to read about the history of the species.

I think this concept is an effective extension because my dissertation will mention the future of museums and I think this concept can show how new media art can be integrated with history and culture and presented to the audience in a better visual way on our daily devices.
