• Materials: Paper shoes, numbers, shapes.

• Activity: We make paper shoes and color them. Then we have the children count how many shoes we have of each color. We can also use the shoes to do shape or number matching games.

• Learning: Children will learn to count, match shapes and practice basic counting and sorting.

Small toy vehicles or Pete the Cat figures (we can make one out of cardboard)

Activity: You ask the children to build a "road" for Pete the Cat to walk on. The kids will make this road out of cardboard, and each part of the road will be a different color, just like in the story Pete's shoes change color as he walks on different materials.

The goal is to build a route that may include:

Turns

Bridges (with straws or paper)

Mounds (folded paper)

So kids will learn to design and build a track, making sure the road is strong enough for Pete or the toy cars to "walk" on.

Learning: Children will learn to design and build structures, understanding the functionality of bridges and roads. They will also experiment with materials and shapes that make the road stable while having fun with the story theme.

Materials: Tablets or computers with simple drawing programs.

Activity: Kids can digitally design Pete and his shoes, choosing colors they like. Then they can change the colors of the shoes with various combinations, just like in the story.

• Materials: Different colors (eg red, blue, yellow), water, containers, brushes.

• Activity: Based on the story where Pete's shoes change color when he walks through different materials, children can explore how colors mix. We will use containers of water and colors and show what happens when we mix different colors.

• Learning: Children will learn about primary and secondary colors and how new colors are created by mixing them.
