The masculin dancer outfit is also a colourful and glittery top, pants, heeled boots with bells known as cascabeles, and a matching hat that could be classfied as a prop almost because it's whipped and tapped against the boots quite often as a dance move. There is the dance of the slave owners, the dance of the slaves and the dance of the foremans, The Caporales. The Caporales dance was conceived, based on the character of the foreman or overseer. It was usually a mestizo (mixed race) worker that would oversee the functioning of the mine. The dance was performed for the first time in 1972. The recreation of the Caporal character was to bring it to life in a different way as the foreman connecting with the slaves through dance.
