A popular chain of restaurants has been accused of underpaying waiters, cooks and food delivery drivers. The tax department orders an audit and it found that 60% of staff have been underpaid significantly. The restaurant chain investigates and finds money meant for employees had been siphoned into another account belonging to a disgruntled employee. The company is very sorry and pays back money owned to all affected staff. In order to avoid this happening again, the restaurant chain must implement a level of information governance, which had been missing and is blamed for this dilemma.
