This image combines the dual challenges of doing novel research therefore meaning that no-one knows what they're doing, with the amazing pressure of finding yourself suddenly at a level of research when you have others looking to you for the answers and you're not quite sure how you got to this point! Confidence and psychological pressure are powerful things!

An important aspect of research is gathering together data and then thinking about how that data should be looked after, organised, stored and archived for future use. Research data management is very much on the agenda and creating a RDM plan is something that is now required by my University (University of Birmingham) and some funders are also asking for this.
