Not matrix, but hoping for some advice if that's okay!

A bit random, but what would you guys suggest doing if there's nothing on at the birth suite?

My first shift didn't have any patients, so I only studied/chatted until a patient came in (2 hours before the end of my shift).

I feel like I wasted time and could've done other things + tick off logbook, but didn't want to overstep on other students allocated on the wards or clinic.

What's the best way to get prepared for the upcoming examination APEx? I feel like I'm not able to fully practise all of them on the wards (eg. NVD etc) and I heard they're quite harsh!
