They have made me so mad with their decisions and their actions. First off, Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln is my least favorite person because he is ruining this country. Lincoln thinks that the south needs to rejoin the union which would be bad for both sides. The south will have the worse end of it because they will have to follow all of the union laws and ideas. Also, Lincoln wants to get rid of slaves. Slaves are the main source of profit for southerners. They are a huge part of the economy. Secondly, Ulyssys Grant. Grant has killed so many people that did not need to be killed. He carries on wars way longer than they need to be. Also, Grant is a lier. He does not take anything seriously. Over the past months, I have been going to weekly confederate meetings. They are disguised as poker night. During these meetings, we talk about how the war is going for the south and plans for the future. Plans for the future are very low-key and not well-developed right now. This is because we do not know where this war is going to take us. We know that we need to do something fast because the Seige of Vicksburg has just happened and the south is losing control of a lot. The North has cut off a large majority of its supply lines. The most disappointing thing that I have heard about the southern armies is that they are undisciplined. I have heard that they do not do any drilling and that they do not even get to practice shooting other than in the war. The south needs to be trained better if we want any chance to win this war. We need to be smarter than the north as well. I have heard that they are going to play "defense". I think that this could work, but I would like to see more of an attack type of army. I think that we need to surprise the Union and take as much as we can. They would never expect an attack from the side that has worse production, fewer people, and fewer resources. The north is going to act as attackers because they want us to come back. They will do everything in their power to take all of our rights and our traditions. We need to stop this. I live about 84 miles from Point lookout prison camp. This is a joke. The north is all about freedom and getting rid of slavery. This prison camp is very similar to slavery. So many southerners are dying in that camp. Andersonville is a reasonable key to winning this war. The south can do this because we are protecting our rights. We can punish them for trying to take our rights. The north needs to be stopped. Things are getting out of hand. 
The worst part of the north having this prison camp is that I live so close to it. There is nothing I can do for the poor soldiers that are being tortured in that camp. It is dangerous for a few reasons. First of all, all of their slaves are freed. They legally can not keep their slaves. This is going to run many slave owners and farmers bankrupt. Secondly, the south could lose the support of the border states. The border states are able to keep their slaves because they are not "in opposition" to the union. Finally, the border states may be trapped into following the union. These states will begin to feel grateful towards Lincoln for allowing the keeping of their slaves. They will be tricked into liking him. I, as a citizen of Maryland, get to keep my slaves, but I can see right through this trick. I know that if the union wins, the joke of a president, Lincoln, will free slaves all throughout the land. Because of these reasons, I believe that passing the Emancipation Proclamation is a pointless action. This only helps the North and is making the war unfair. I was beginning my plans to assassinate President Lincoln and general Grant. I should have kept my plans to myself because I have been exposed. My own wife, the daughter of a Union politician, has reported me to the Union and I am headed to jail for most likely the rest of my life. 
Deep down, I knew that the south had no chance to win. I thought that I needed to take matters into my own hands and kill the two most important Union leaders. This plan would have worked and the south could have risen together and beat the union without these two men. I was so close. I was almost the hero of all secessionists. 
The guards came this afternoon. They said that they would be taking me to Old Capital Prison. Once I heard this, I knew that I was not getting out of there alive. A prison like this was sure to be full of disease. I asked the guards who came to get me who turned me in. When I heard my wife's name, I felt betrayed. South very outnumbered. The north has the advantage in production of resources, number of people, and most importantly control of the supply lines. First, the production of resources in the north is much higher than the south. There are so many more factories. They can supply the army and the citizens at home. The south is rationing everything and life at home is almost as bad as life on the frontlines. Second, the amount of people. This fact is hard to annoy. Anyone outside of this war would think that the north would have an easy win but the south will put up a fight with the grit that we have. Finally, the control of the supply lines will benefit the north very much. The north has blockaded the coastline so no countries can trade with the confederate states. They have also took control of many cities that contain important rail-lines that bring the south supplies. Finally, the north has full control over the Mississippi River. This hurts the south a lot. The south is divided by the north is many different spots. They are surrounding the Confederate states slowing. I have heard a lot about the battle during my weekly meetings. I heard that the battle was a complete mess. None of the soldiers knew what they were doing. They were running around scared out of their minds. I have heard that the northern soldiers were hit by a wall and retreated back. I also heard that us Rebels had the chance to take over and do a lot of damage but our leader, Jefferson Davis, thought otherwise. He believed that the south should stay in defense mode. This silly and cowardly act helped the union tremendously. The south could be in control of this war right now if he would have sent troops and attacked the weak union army. I am very disappointed in the southern leader at this moment in time. First off, the heat a humidity was bad enough for everyone let alone the bloody war. This heat helped the north because the southerners became tired and exhausted. The south really needed this win because of all the roads that were pivotal to the war. The three days of this battle were horrendous for both sides. So many casualties. A battle like this will never be won by the south. This is because the winner of this batter will be the army with more people. Everyone in the US knows that the south is very outnumbered. I was confused when I heard about this battle because I figured that General Lee would have been able to beat the unknown leader General Meade. He should have never underestimated him. The result of this war is terrible for the Confederate confidence. The momentum of this war needs to change fast. I will begin to talk about a future plan of action for the south. If nothing good happens soon, the south may need to look at surrender plans.
