The key person can recognise what the baby wants or needs so that they can support the child’s holistic development and wellbeing. Tuning in to babies allows practitioners to identify their reactions and preferences. Additionally, it is important for the key person to tune in because they can easily spot when the baby needs something, like food or changing, as they become aware of the different cries and the different meanings behind each one.
