<title>Award-Winning Director and Choreographer Art Manke by Art Manke</title>
      <link>https://padlet.com/ArtManke/About</link>
<description>Among all the great theatrical events that Art Manke enjoyed while growing up in the greater Chicago area, seeing Pearl Bailey reprise her Tony Award-winning turn in &quot;Hello, Dolly!&quot; stands alone as a singularly influential experience. He went on to study acting, securing a bachelor of fine arts from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a master of fine arts from the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco, and subsequently performed as a company member at American Players Theatre and other distinguished theatres. Over the course of his career, Art Manke has authored several plays and directed over 200 at prominent theaters across the United States, and has had productions tour internationally.

Art Manke has worked with most of the leading resident theatres in America including Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Pasadena Playhouse, Denver Center Theatre Company, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, among others. He most recently directed and choreographed the world premiere of Amy Freed&#39;s SHREW! for South Coast Repertory Theater, where he is known for spearheading multicultural productions of &quot;Peter and the Starcatcher&quot; and &quot; The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabler,&quot; among others. Mr. Manke’s musical play, &quot;Pearl&#39;s in the House,&quot; has been workshopped at multiple venues in celebration of the life and times of his formative inspiration, Pearl Bailey. His latest playwriting project is an adaptation of D.H. Lawrence&#39;s classic novel of gender fluidity, women&#39;s rights and bi-sexuality, &quot;Women in Love.&quot;</description>
