Social factors contributed to this event because Jim Jones affected his people temple followers lifestyle.By giving them a false sense of paradise when he worked them like crazy and treated them poorly.the culture at that time that allowed this to happen was the peoples temple. they allowed it to happen because they strongly believed in anything Jones said they were needy. the major issues in society were social justice and civil rights. this contributed to the event because people were seeking a better life and Jones seemed idealistic and people admired that. which led to them becoming apart of the peoples temple.
