Ever since I could remember when my family visits Greece we always go to a small island called Tarti. It was found by my great grandpa when he went fishing and ever since, our relatives always go there. The island is so small that it only has two restaurants on it. Every time I go to tarti my family and I always do the same thing: wake up with the roasters, walk down a shady road to get the beach with the smell of figs above you and we visit one restaurant in the day and the other at night. The entire day we just relax on the beach with barely anyone there but some old yiayia's. There's this 30 foot rock thats a mile out that we always swim to and jump off of. There's abosolutely no WIFI so you can not be on your phone and you only interact with people right there. Going to tarti always brought my family closer and I will never forget every single memory I've made on the island.

I have never questioned my faith in any way but at times in my life, I thought God wasn't there with me and I felt alone in times of need. But three weeks ago, my sister took me to a Chance the Rapper concert. During one of his songs, Blessings, the background of the stage turned to backdrops of valleys and just nature in general. His song Blessings, is a slower song about him praising God and gives you those church vibes. With the backdrop being nature and the song about God I started looking around and felt a chill go down my body and I thought God was actually there with me and I felt at peace. This shaped a faith perspective because I learned that God doesn't usually come by command or in the most times of need, but he will always show different signs of being right by your side when you least expect it.

A few years ago, my family and I moved into my grandparents house. No one in my family told me we were moving until I accidentally overheard my mom talking on the phone how she didn't want me in the house when the buyers came over. At first I was so mad at my mom because how could she not tell me that our house was on sale. The move was hard because I was moving in with my grandparents and there was gonna be big changes. Even though I still miss all the memories from the old house, I am happy we moved. This was another situation that sometimes you can't control everything that comes your way but it will always be okay in the end.

Ever since I was 5, every February, me and my sisters have always participated in FDF, which stands for Folk Dance Festival. Its this huge competition with over 50 greek churches from California to new jersey who all participate in greek dancing. Everyone comes together for a three day weekend and compete Friday and Saturday and the banquet is Sunday. I perform with a group, Spitha, against several other groups in my division. Its mainly greek dancing or spending the day getting ready to greek dance but there is glendis at night. Having so many people be there you so many memories in the shortest amount of time. It is the most fun I always with my greek friends because we have all known each other from birth and your competing either against friends and getting to perform with your friends infront of 300 people sounds nerve racking but once your up there its the most amazing feeling ever. Every greek who goes to FDF just waits for it to come around the next year so we can all come together again.
