Zeitungen, Romane) und ist somit eine Sache des Stils. 

Am häufigsten verwendet man das Participe présent als Ersatz für einen Kausalsatz mit comme/parce que/car oder einem Relativsatz mit qui. Sätze können damit gut verknüpft werden.
