Every work you read, watch, or hear has a theme. As we learned in the video in step one, themes are always universal. At the surface, the media you observe may seem to be there to make you laugh and lighten your mood. Maybe it makes you cry, or even ask yourself questions you were not asking yourself before. Exploring the theme of what you indulge in helps you understand why you feel that way. Why did the author make this? What problem were they addressing or even trying to fix? Theme brings every viewer of the story together, and gives one specific conclusion that can be recited in just one sentence. Whatever goal the author is attempting to reach, you as the viewer can find that inside theme.
