His Uncle helps Salva keep walking by telling him to walk a certain distance and then to keep going. If Salva’s uncle was not in the group he would fall behind the group and be left alone again. I can apply his strategy to my life because when we do the mile run in P.E, I tell myself to run a certain distance and then once I get there I set a different distance for myself.

One sentence  from this chapter that shows the theme is, “Uncle cautioned him to make the water in his gourd last as long as possible.” (pg. 53) This is difficulty because clean water was very rare and he hadn’t had something to drink in a while.

Salva overcame his fear by having his Uncle push him to walk. His Uncle made up goals for him to achieve so he can get farther. No, I have not experienced such fear. 

Salva overcomes his fear by sucking up the pain in his foot. His uncle made him walk it out to have them keep going on with their journey. I had not had such fear and overcame it.

I think that of all the elements Salva has faced Marial being taken from the group when they were in the lion territory was the worst.The desert could be the worst because it is so hot and they have such a large lack of water

Of all the terrains and elements Salva has faced, I think the desert is the worst because there is no water, food, or life and it will take them three days.

Salva’s Uncle has helped him alot because he called by his full name and edged him a little further at a time. Without his Uncle Salva might have died or stopped in the desert. You can use Uncle’s technique and push yourself everyday to do something.

Uncle helps Salva by setting small goes for him. Without his uncle, Salva would have never made it this far in the dessert. If I am running a marathon or something, then I can set small goals for myself, and before I know it, I would have finished.

Of all the elements, I think that the worst was when the attackers from Islam started to attack their tribe which spit them apart. The Desert could also be a very bad challenge because he got injured and could not walk.

The worst element of Salva’s journey was probably at the very beginning when he had to run away from home.

The Desert was the worst element Salva has faced because it was burning hot and he was walking barefoot for some time and hit a rock causing his toenail to come off which caused lots of pain for him. He also suffered from dehydration along with a lot of other people because in the text it says that nine men collapsed on the sand due to lack of water.

A: The heat of the desert there was no water there and breeze to give them relief. Men died and salva lost a toenail.

Salva’s shoes stood no chance against the hot stony desert ground. 

A: I think the worse he has come across is the mosquitoes I mean I get our mosquitoes but huge swarms all night long and smack a handful at a time no thank you. The desert is worst to they really didn’t have water along in chapter 6 or 7 they encountered lions which is scary to think about.

 I feel like the most uncomfortable for me would be the mosquitoes. I can’t stand it when I have a bug bite on me and it itches so bad! The desert could be worse if he had no water and was all alone without Uncle.

His uncle is using his full name to remind of home  and of his foot.
sometimes my mom says my full name if i am in trouble.

Of all the elements Salva has faced, which do you think is the worst? How could the Desert be the worst?

- he over comes his fear because his uncle comforts him when he finds out his friend has died.

- I think the Desert was the worst because he could only take little sips of water, he had splinters in his feet and he was tired and hungry.
 

- He helps him by saying that there going to the bushes, and giving him and piece of the sugar cane.

- the five guys are dying in the sand, and a women helped them. But salvas group didnt want her to help

4. i think the sentence that sums it up the best is the pain was terrible. salva tried to bite his lip, but the awfulness of the never-ending day was to mutch for him.

I can apply Uncle’s strategy in my life because sometimes, tasks and challenges may seem a little bit difficult, or overwhelming, so deciding to pause everything for a moment, no matter what, giving yourself a push forward, and taking that confidence and spreading it out in numerous small steps can produce the illusion that it is easier to do said thing. In addition, you should always recall and remember what you know from the past and present to use it as motivation and help to persevere and make it through a tough situation. 

So far I think the jungle or the lion country is the worst I think this because of all the threats there are altho it is damp it has so many threats they have to worry about many things like lions other big creatures like bison elk and many more they have to worry about scorpions snakes spiders bees and if there is a storm lightning could start a fire
