1. The most interesting pieces of information from this chapter are on pg.232, which states that having rapid weight gain in the first 9 months of a babys life and also having a high BMI during elementary school are high indicators of early menstruation later on in life. I think this is interesting because how do we determine that from such a young age?
2. Another thing that I have found interesting also on pg.232 is that the amount of family stress is also linked to a faster development and it actually causes fertility to come faster, this is because when there is an excess stress this signals the body to have a shorter lifespan, it is very interesting how our body reacts to stressors and automatically adjusts.

Even more interesting for these two facts is that they only apply to girls.

1. On pg.260 under ‘’Are adolescents more emotional, more emotionally disturbed, or both?’’ It is stated that in a procedure called experience-sampling method that was done in a chicago high school it was concluded that adolescents moods are not irrational but rather caused by experiences in their daily lives such as frustration from school etc. this is interesting because while people think teens are often irrational, it is totally okay to have frustrations and feel certain emotions

2. Another thing that is interesting to me is under ‘’Which teens thrive?’’ On pg.263 where it is said that teens that thrive often have adults in their life that encourage them to explore their talents, it is also mentioned that it is important to also have another adult other than a parent such as a mentor to guide you during these years. I agree with this because I also believe that is important since adolescents can sometimes have problems with their own parents so it’s always a good idea to have someone else’s perspective.

I do not agree nor disagree with the results from the quiz, while these results may be accurate to an extent, I do not think the questions are sufficient or detailed enough to prove very accurate results. With this quiz I learned that these types of questions can be helpful if you are stuck finding a career you would like or maybe a possible are of interest when wanting to search for a new job.

Out of all of my results I believe ‘’education and child care administrator’’ was the most accurate and the closest to something I would actually enjoy doing.

In my opinion I believe that the ideal life stage is adolescence because this is were we get to experiment and search for our ideal selves. Whether it is a good or stormy time without this we wouldn’t be able to learn from experience and become responsible adults that make better decisions.

For instance, in the chart on pg.257 we can see the difference between the risk taking of a teen and the one of an adult. When accompanied by friends teens are more likely to perform risky acts vs adults who are way less likely to make that decision.

1. Emotional development in early childhood:
On pg.147 we learn that autobiographical memories play a big role as they can help construct a child’s emotional development, this is interesting because it is a very easy things caregivers can do to help stimulate their child’s mind.

2. I also enjoyed learning about the different types of eating disorders, more specifically about binge eating disorder because it is not normally something that I have heard as much as anorexia and bulimia. On pg.240 it is stated that binge eating disorder is more prevalent and tied to obesity. I enjoyed learning about this because while I thought that eating disorders were developed, it turns out that they can actually be passed down from parents to children.

All in all I enjoyed this course and learning about the different stages in life as it is a very high area of interest to me. I enjoyed the work on achieve and I have taken other classes with and have liked them as well.
I do have to say I wish we had less discussions or at least maybe no discussion during finals week, I also did not enjoy the oral exam experience very much, while it was something that was quick I would’ve preferred to be examined in a different way as I am sure others taking an online course would prefer too.
Other than that I loved the course content and it was definitely a learning experience because I gained a lot of insight on the topics we covered.
