In the text, it says " I'm going to feel fine Mama. I'm going to look that son-of-a-bitch in the eyes and say 'alright Mr. Lindner... That's your neighborhood  out there! You got the right to keep it of you want! You have the right to have it like you want! Just write the check and- and the house is yours.'" (p. 144). 

Walter is about to sell the house that was bought for his whole family just for a check. Just because he lost his money, he was going to bail himself out by selling away his family's future. Keep in mind, this was not just a house for this family. This was bought with the money received from his father's death. This house was his mother's dream. This house represented the whole family's hopes and dreams, and how they were bettering themselves as a whole. I do not believe  that Walter is a bad person. However, I do not agree with how he deals with his problems. In the play, Walter often gets drunk and lashes out  towards his family members.  Although the circumstances are very poor for Walter and his family, I do not believe he handles it well. He also does not support his family the way he should. This renowned painting by the very well-known artist Vincent van Gogh features his view from his asylum window. From my personal analysis of this painting, it seems that this painting could represent the dreams and desires of Van Gogh to get out of that room. Similar to Walter's dreams, both were very difficult to acquire. However, that did not stop these two from dreaming it. This poem perfectly describes the mindset of Walter. He desires the success of himself and his family. While he wants these things, they are not coming easy to him. He must first deal with poverty and racism. This speaks to the main point of the whole idea of the play. If you really look, every aspect of this story was about chasing your dreams despite the obstacles in your way. Walter displays this idea by doing just that. He never quits on making his family happy.
