The king, his butler, and his enemies.</p><p>The power shifts in Act 1 are directly correlated with the people with knowledge, IE. the mariners &amp; Prospero. </p><p>Theme: Relationship dynamics are critical to the cohesiveness of a story because power has a natural advantage over the powerless and some will use it accordingly.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Theme:</p><p>Power is something good and valuable, despite those who have it don't abuse ( Ill-use) it, and those who don't would kill for it.</p><p><br/></p><p>In Act 2, Scene 1, Antonio convinces Sebastion to help him usurp the king and kill him, becoming the new king of Naples. The urge to obtain power drives Sebastion to agree and plot to kill his own brother, while at the same time, Antonio is being manipulated by the same greed and is being driven by the guarantee of power. While Antonio is manipulating Sebastion into killing Alonzo, he says, " Shall be my precedent: as thou got’st Milan/ I’ll come by Naples. Draw thy sword. One stroke /Shall free thee from the tribute which thou payest, /And I the King shall love thee (Shakespeare 2.1.333-336).</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Theme: </p><p>Knowledge, when shared, can overcome (get/bring under control) power and can also be a way to obtain power or social status, even when the knowledge comes from the person least in power.</p><p><br></p><p>Caliban uses his knowledge to obtain connections and a means to escape being Prospero's slave. Caliban's extensive knowledge of the land helped Prospero, and now he uses weaponized discretion to threaten Trinculo: "I do beseech thy Greatness, give him blows/ And take his bottle from him. When that’s gone/He shall drink naught but brine, for I’ll not show him/ Where the quick freshes are (Shakespeare 3.2.71-71).</p>]]></description>
