         <description><![CDATA[<div>My name is Diana Martinez. I was born in Queens, New York. However, I was raised here in Miami, Florida. My favorite hobby that I ever did was dance. I danced in a professional studio for 9 years and stopped when I went into high school. I don't dance in a studio anymore, but it is still something I love to do at home and in public places. Something I am most proud about myself and believe is a good strength I have is the way I stand up for myself. I was bullied a lot in school, but eventually I started to get tired of just biting my tongue and started to talk back. Nevertheless, I do have weaknesses that are still into play and one of them is how hard I am on myself. I set goals for myself and if I don't accomplish them, I get so mad at myself. I have been working on that and telling myself that at that the end of the day, I'm human and I can only do my best. Not less, not more, just my best.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning can be used when people hear news from any news outlet or social media platform. There are some people who share information about a celebrity, politician, or an event without researching if the claims are backed up with evidence. Therefore, this can lead to a chain of multiple people sharing false information or cause people who are receiving the news to panic. I remember my first English professor in college always told the class " Make sure that when you hear news to look at how long ago the news came out to the public." Why? Well, the more recent the news is, the little amount of evidence and reasoning the news can have. Without evidence or reasoning to back up claims from the news, the audience may start to assume and make up stories that aren't quite true. This can conclude that the information might not be completely accurate. If the audience uses C.E.R, it can reduce false information to be spread and reduce emotions of worriness.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The video I chose for this assignment was the "Digital Story: Common Cold Lesson Done by: Loteisha Lattibeaudiere." Something that caught my attention was the process of a common cold. A common cold is caused by a type of virus that is called the Rhinovirus. The Rhinovirus is able to get into the cell lining of an individual's nose, which leads to reproducing. This leads to spreading from one's hand to another object, which can lead to someone else touching that object and possibly getting the common cold. When the rhinovirus is in your body, one will have symptoms, like coughing.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

These insects settle in all earthly habitats, moving from different deserts to rainforests, from grassland to mountant highland. Lepidoptera connect with higher plants. A person can find them depending where the younger type of insects stay. For example, the moth and butterfly caterpillars are mainly found on or near their food. Usually, the adults are close, but sometimes a few of them migrate to avoid intense climates.          <title>Why did I pick my species? How is Lepidoptera being impacted or could be affected by climate change?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I picked Lepidoptera because ever since I was kid, specifically butterflies have fascinated me. Their wings have such a beautiful pattern, where each one is unique in their own way. To me, butterflies and moths kind of resemble humans in a way. Butterflies can be affected by climate change because butterflies need to overwinter in forests where the temperature is reasonably low for their metabolism to not be demanding, but not so low that they freeze. Otherwise, when temperatures increase and erratic freezing events start to happen, it can impact the butterflies' ability to survive. For moths, when the temperature increases and precipitation decreases during early development, it can have a bad impact on moth's abundance. This is pretty interesting coming from someone who hasn't really looked into this species that they can be impacted from climate change in different aspects. It is pretty self-explanatory that if not all but majority of species will be impacted by climate change. From previous research post on my species, I did expect for this species' living to be impacted since they enjoy more earthly and forest-like environments. Also, from a previous research, Lepidoptera are seen in any continent except for Antartica. So, finding out that where they live could be impacted wasn't much of a shocker, mores of a reassurance to the expectations I had going into answering the question.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I chose Maria Aiello's padlet. I chose Maria's padlet because for her species, she chose the Red Admiral. The Red Admiral is a type of butterfly and I found it interesting that we both picked butterflies. My species is Lepidoptera, which is both butterflies and moths, so I saw a connection with both of our padlets. I enjoy Maria's padlet because it has the group post by section layout where if you are looking for some information in particular, all you would have to do is look for the name of the specific section. This is my favorite map format since it isn't really all over the place. The layout is understandable and thorough.          <title>How butterflies and moths evolved</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>My species is lepidoptera, which are both butterflies and moths. Around about 300 million years ago, moths were present. There isn't much information on how moths evolved except for one hypothesis that hasn't been tested, which is that moths might have coevolved with flowering plants and locating bats. Moths have passed their color through the next generation. It is stated that butterflies might have evolved from moths. Moths already had created a strawlike mouth parts. One group of moths were able to utilize the narrative food source, which led to butterflies. According to Akito Kawahara (et al.), the oldest insects of the Lepidoptera&nbsp; appeared in the Late Carboniferous (~300 Ma). As a whole, Lepidoptera evolved their head shape in the Middle Triassic. Their head shape allowed them to obtain nectar from thye flowering plants. Akito Kawahara stated "this morphological innovation, along with other traits, likely promoted the extraordinary diversification of superfamily-level lepidopteran crown groups."&nbsp;</div><div>References:&nbsp;</div><div>Kawahara A.          <description><![CDATA[<div>I chose the "Sexual Deception of Orchids". It caught my eye because orchids are one of my favorite flowers. Throughout the video, I learned that the world's largest orchid grows meters tall that the tiniest orchide practically is invisible. Some bloom high up on trees, while others bloom underground. There are about 28,000 species of orchids on Earth. Orchids grow worldwide.&nbsp; Some orchids actually trick insects into having sex with them for insects to gather their pollution and carry it between plants. They can mimic the appearance of other species. Orchids can mimic the shape and color of other nectar-producing flowers but without the sweet nectar. Orchids have different methods into luring insects. The most intriguing one is sexual deception. They perform this method with a combination of different shapes and pheromones. The most vital component of sexual deception is scent.          <title>My BSC1005 Experience</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>For my last spring semester in MDC, I decided to pick this course. When the registration for this semester opened, I kept in mind that I needed to complete the science requirements. Science isn't my strongest subject, so I wanted the course to be as smooth as possible. I went to rate my professors per usual and noticed that this specific course should be smooth and easy. This course has exceeded my expectations, allowed me to feel confident approaching the assignments, and changed my view on science courses.&nbsp;</div><div>First off, I was pretty shocked as my first initial reaction to this course. I can't remember the last time a professor didn't give homework and allowed us to complete assignments in the time frame of our meets. It is convient towards my schedule so I was not mad about that at all. Before I engaged in this course, I always felt stressed out about science courses. I can't remember the last time I actually learned in a science course because the past science professors I have had had a different type of teaching that wasn't effective for me. I expected to still struggle in this class because when I took biology in high school, I received once of the worst grades I've ever had in my academic years.</div><div>Continuously, my experience with the course is bestly worded as nice. I didn't feel bombarded with the information of this course, as well as with the assignments. Like I said previously, the experience I had with this course was different due to the past experiences I have had with other sicence courses. I would stress out so much about science courses before and even now, I was taking a nutrition class and was struggling in that course this semester as well. So, hearing that for me, this was one of my easiest classes I had and it was a science course shocks me.&nbsp;</div><div>Furthermore, completing the activies changed the way I see science. I've always enjoyed nature and find it one of the most beautiful things. So, going in dept on one of my favorites things, like butterflies, was really intriguing to learn about. One of my other favorite things about nature are orchids, which we got to learn last class. I learned a lot from the padlets. Any of the assignments we had that went towards the padlet has stuck with me because it's not only doing it here, but pasting it on another post; so, seeing it in two different places has made it easier to remember. This course didn't really change me as a person, it just changed my experience in science courses.&nbsp;</div><div>In conclusion, this course was one of my favorites this semester. It was easy to adapt to, smoothly done, and made me learn. I expected to have a hard time in this course, when really I had the easiest time in this course and in the meantime was learning. That is my input on this course and I expect to have more science courses like this. Not too hard and easy to learn in.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
