Lego nearly went bankrupt in the year 2004 because they lost sight of who their target audience was. They made unfounded assumptions, hastily innovating and creating without really researching beforehand to find out if that was what their audience actually wanted.

The name LEGO comes from the Danish word “Leg Godt” which means “play well”.

Legos reached the United States market by 1961. By 1971, Legos were the most loved and best-selling toys among US children.
