During this course, I learned a lot about internationalization in education and cultural awareness.

I reflected on how international projects can enrich learning. Visiting the Caribbean Center gave me insights into the history of slavery and its lasting impact today. I also discovered the connection between Carnival and resistance in Guadeloupe. Exploring the markets of Pointe-Ã -Pitre introduced me to local crafts, spices, and the idea of identity as a blend of personal and national influences.

I learned about Gwo-Ka music, its rhythms, and how it is passed down through families. A hike through the rainforest showed me the incredible biodiversity of Guadeloupe and made me think about global and national identities. I tasted fresh sugarcane and local dishes like lambis. Snorkeling in the Grand-Cul-de-Sac-Marin lagoon helped me understand the ecological importance of coral reefs and mangroves. Attending the Carnival in Sainte-Anne introduced me to traditions such as whip performances.

I also improved my foreign language skills. Throughout the course, I developed and reflected on new ideas for integrating intercultural perspectives into my teaching. This experience has broadened my horizons, and I look forward to incorporating these insights into my lessons.

Writing a short paragraph about everything I learned during this training course in Guadeloupe is a great challenge, because these two weeks were incredibly intensive, enriching and broadened my horizons. Not only did I learn a lot professionally, but I also had profound cultural and personal experiences that will leave a lasting impression on me.

Guadeloupe inspired me with its unique blend of European and Caribbean influences. I learned a lot about the culture, the history and the local people and took the warmth of the locals, the breathtaking nature, the delicious food and the pleasant climate deep into my heart. I am particularly grateful for our great training group, in which an intensive exchange took place. Not only did we learn a lot from each other professionally, but we also had a fantastic time together, laughed a lot and shared valuable experiences.

I was able to improve my English skills and learn about innovative teaching methods. I was particularly impressed by the realization that the place of learning has a significant influence on the learning process. The integration of European and international elements into the curriculum was also an important topic. I realized that it is often not about creating something completely new, but rather about making visible what already exists. I realized that our school already has many activities in this area. I also gained valuable insights into the development of Erasmus projects and understood how important international school partnerships are for exchange and cooperation.

A particularly formative aspect of this training was the immersion in the history of Guadeloupe, especially in the deep traces that the time of slavery left in society. The wounds of this past can still be felt today. This is expressed, among other things, in the Gwo-Ka drum rhythms, which once served as a secret form of communication for enslaved people and are now an important part of Guadeloupean identity. The traditional carnival parades, which have their roots in this period, are also an important cultural heritage of the island.

Another major topic of our training was the concept of global citizenship. Together, we worked out which key topics are particularly important for the education of the next generation. I also learned a lot about the school systems in France, Germany, Spain and Slovenia and deepened my knowledge of the Key Competences for Lifelong Learning. I was able to take away valuable ideas for my own lesson planning through concrete examples and suggestions. I also drafted the International Policy for my school as part of the training.

A particularly formative aspect of this training was the immersion in the history of Guadeloupe, especially in the deep traces that the time of slavery left in society. The traditional carnival parades, which have their roots in this period, are also an important cultural heritage of the island.

An absolute highlight was our excursion to Le Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin, a fascinating nature reserve with impressive biodiversity. I learned a lot about the importance of the mangrove forests as a natural coastal protection and habitat for numerous animal species. Equally fascinating were the coral reefs, which play a central role in the marine ecosystem despite numerous environmental threats. In addition to the underwater world, we also got to know Guadeloupe's diverse birdlife and realized how important it is to protect these sensitive ecosystems. The geological development of the archipelago was also particularly exciting: Guadeloupe's youngest island was only formed in 1989 as a result of the devastating Hurricane Hugo.

This training course not only enriched me professionally, but also personally. I return home with new perspectives, valuable experiences and inspiring ideas, and I look forward to integrating what I have learned into my teaching and daily school life.
