Wasps are invertebrates which means they are insects. Wasps have 6 legs, wings and 3 body parts.  The three body parts are called the head, thorax and  abdomen.  

The Queen:
Queen wasps can live 2-5 years.  In autumn, all the wasps die except for a few new queens.  Queen wasps are the only ones to lay eggs.

Habitat:
Nests are found in the ground, trees, walls or in any cold dark place.  There is only one queen wasp in each nest.

Stinger:
Humans aren’t the only ones who fear the wasp sting.  Some humans are allergic to wasp stings and can suffer an extreme allergic reaction.

Wasps actually have a bit of a sweet tooth, just like humans do.  There are over 75,000 different species of wasp and they are found everywhere except for Antarctica.
