One example of a Chinese invention that was spread through the silk road was paper. Paper was spread through trade and imitation. This simulated the invention of printing in China. This was done by monks who promoted different religions along the route. One of the biggest religions being Buddhism from China. The main route led to different, smaller routes leading through the subcontinent. The main route led to regions like Mediterranean Europe and Eastern Asia. The Eurasian (Europe & Asia) landmass was bordered by the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, which traders used to travel faster or safer. Many different items, religions, and others were traded in Eurasia by using the Silk Road. Many subregions in Eurasia would be: the Intermontaine Desert, the Oasis Belt, the Trans-Eurasian Steppe Belt, China, the Mediterranean, the Middle East, and the Boreal Forest.
China
China's strong geographical system became a main part of the silk road. Some travellers went by land in the eroded hills of Northern China, while others went through the South China Sea, the Red River, and the Yellow River.
The Mediterranean
The Mediterranean distributed silk road goods throughout western Eurasia, and to Northeastern Asian seas and lands. Some of these being the compass, dynamite, printing, wells and different medicine. The objects listed above had a long lasting impact on Western civilizations, as the compass was used in oceanic navigation and the wells (irrigation systems) promoted more civilizations in the Desert. 
From the West, China was able to receive new knowledge about mathematics and astronomy.
