We will go crab for as long as it will take to get the maximum amount of crab which is like 25 crabs for the two of us. We will then go home clean and cook the crabs for an early Christmas eve dinner at like 4.

My families rituals often include food. We eat princess cake for every birthday, clam chowder for Christmas, and Easter brunch. We always tell long stories and share funny talents and skits. We are also ALWAYS laughing, like all the time. My family goes to church on Christmas and Easter, and we make new years resolutions that we put in bottles and burn the next year. We are always traveling or trying something new like a new food or a different hike or sport.

I think that one tradition that allowed me to be a participant in my family's culture is Christmas. We have a lot of traditions surrounding Christmas. The first one is that we go over to my Grandma's house on Christmas Eve and go to church. After we go back to her house and she always gives us bags of Swedish candy (I'm very Swedish). Although it's a little thing it makes me appriciate more of my Swedish roots.

Whenever we have a family event (birthday, wedding, funeral, etc.) we give or receive red envelopes of money. Through this tradition, we're taught to be humble and giving to others.

In my family it is a tradition to play a game called "Pig" at almost every dinner where the whole family is gathered. The way Pig is played is that one family member will put their finger to the side of nose while everyone is eating. The remaining family members will have to follow suit and the last person to do so is dubbed the "Pig" and is therefore more interested in food then family and conversation.

After every birthday in my family, in my immediate family and extended family, we sing a second song after happy birthday. This tradition has been in my family for a very long time and I hope it continues because it makes my mom side, the O'Connor family, unique. Also in my immediate family, we have a tradition of having fondue on Christmas eve. This is our family time and on Christmas day, we have more a a friends night more than a family night. We spend time with our very good family friends. My family is very big on skiing. Sara and I have both been skiing competitively for over 6 years. On New Years Eve, there is a light parade that my family and friends both participate in. All of these things that I just mentioned, are very unique to my family and I look forward to doing these things each year.

Whenever we would visit Hawaii we would go snorkeling. We usually visit these places once every year because they are very relaxing. We also sometimes go to Tahoe just to see what snow is like. We bring our dog on short trips. We don't really go on these trips to celebrate anything; we just do it because it is fun.

At night, we all go to our neighbors house and some of the kids go trick or treating, or stay and hand out candy. One of my neighbors dads has a rule that anyone over 12 years old has to sing to get candy. We give them a few minutes to come up with their song and then they have to present in front of everyone at the party.
