...Japan did not agree to do this with America. Despite this pact between Germany and the Allies, there were pretty frequent "accidents" (sometimes they were legitimate accidents, and other times they were not and were war crimes). Because Japan did not agree with this pact, combat medics from the Allies disguised themselves as regular soldiers and held small guns that could fit in their pocket, so that they could help people without having a heavy gun to worry about.


One of the most famous conscientious objectors of all time, Desmond Doss, signed up as a combat medic and went to the Battle of Okinawa (April 1 – June 22, 1945) without any weapon.
