Types of ls engines the Chevy ls motor comes in many different sizes with lots of different capabilities: the ls7 featured in the corvette z06, many would argue that motor to be the best overall ls motor or the newer ls9 also very powerful. The most popular ls motor is arguably the ls1 featured from 1997-2005. Making stock hp of 305-350 with the 5.7l. although that might be very popular it's quite under powered compared to the ls7 and 9 I talked about before all making at least 500+ hp.

Have you heard of people putting different engines in cars making ridiculous builds. Well the main motor used in this is the infamous ls motor. Many people use these engines due to there size making it possible to swap these motors in any car. These motors also handle and produce lots of power they are capable of handling up to 1000+ hp depending on which type you get.

Size the ls motors are all considered small block engines, tho some may have a big block displacement : LSX454 crate engine. The most common ls motor is the 5.3l Lc9 which is only 327 cubic meters which is why many people choose the Chevy ls engines over rivals like fords coyote 5.0 that's much wider than the ls.

Specs Ls motors are all pretty similar; some similarities are 4.40 inch bore centers, six bolt, cross bolted main bearing caps, center main thrust bearing,9.24 inch deck height. All ls motors are push rod v8’s with aluminum cylinder heads. The ls engines can either iron or aluminum blocks. Ls also have another type of engine based off of them, the vortec engine is what comes in the Chevy and GMC trucks. The vortec is very similar to the ls but just under powered and has different engine specs.
