Powered up

The summary I chose was about solar power and that stuff. There is a place called Lingshed high up in the mountains of Himalaya which is 1,000 years old deep and in the mountains. It is a place with no electricity and so much that it is off the grid. So a man named Paras Loomba wanted to change that. He says that “there are some basic needs of people in this society needs and it is food, water, shelter, and electricity.” Paras Loomba works in an organization in india that electrifies small towns and villages using solar power. (Solar power is a way to get electricity from the sun's rays). With a group of volunteers they helped to bring light for the first time. Before this the people of the town would rely on candles and kerosene lamps for light. The people in the town say that the village people who lived in this home for years are moving to the big cities because it has more opportunities. The volunteers think bringing electricity will help towns and villages like this better survive in the modern world. Most energy in the world is mostly powered by things such as fossil fuels and boiling water to make big turbines spin. To tackle this problem they are teaming up with a group called the IEEE Smart Village Initiative. Adding these panels would help light up monastery and schools or something like a small computer lab. In a small building near school dormitories, electrical engineer David Goldsmith, from Seattle Washington assembled ling sheds by hand. After two days the microgrids were ready. The big moment was about to happen. In the dark all the village people and monks gathered around to see the moment. They flicked the switch and the bright white lights turned on. Monks are normally quiet calm people but this time they were clapping and jumping. All of the people are hopeful that these lights will keep their small village alive and out of the darkness they were in for years and years
