The founder of Facebook (now Meta) has often highlighted the benefits that AI can bring, such as enhancing user experiences, personalizing content, and improving efficiency in various sectors, from healthcare to scientific research. Zuckerberg has also criticized what he considers excessive alarmism around AI, believing that innovation should be embraced with caution but not undue fear. In an interview with Recode in 2017, he stated: “I think we are too negative about AI. I think it can do a lot of really positive things, and the fears are a little bit exaggerated.”

Elon Musk, on the other hand, has taken a more cautious and sometimes alarmist stance towards AI. Musk has repeatedly warned of the existing risks, arguing that AI could pose an existential threat to humanity if not properly regulated and managed. He has often cautioned against developing superintelligent AI without adequate safeguards, expressing concern that such technology could escape human control and cause irreversible harm. For example, in 2014, Musk stated: “Artificial intelligence is probably the biggest existential threat to humanity.” Musk is also one of the founders of OpenAI, initially created as a non-profit organization to promote safe AI, though he has expressed concerns about the undue influence of large companies over this technology.

In summary, while Zuckerberg emphasizes the positive potential of AI and advocates for a more balanced approach, Musk is more concerned about the risks of uncontrolled, potentially destructive artificial intelligence.

He has repeatedly expressed his opinion that advanced AI could pose a threat to humanity if not regulated properly, and has even signed an open letter asking for a pause in AI development to evaluate better the risks and consequences and he also compared Artificial Intelligence to "apocalyptic". On the other hand, Mark Zuckerberg, has a more optimistic and enthusiastic view on AI and believes that AI can be a powerful tool to improve human life, solve global problems such as hunger and improve the services offered by technology platforms. He has also declared that AI could replace mid-level engineers in the process of writing code by 2025, freeing people for more creative and innovative tasks. So while Musk is concerned about the potential risks of AI, Zuckerberg is confident in its possibilities and benefits.

There has been a long standing conflict between Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and X owner Elon Musk over various aspects, from artificial intelligence to the management of their social platforms, the two technology billionaires today share a point of view: OpenAI should remain a non-profit organization. Meta has asked the California attorney general to prevent the artificial intelligence company from turning into a for-profit entity, accusing Sam Altman's company of exploiting its status to raise billions. OpenAI represents a strong competitor for Meta in the race for AT innovation. "Not holding Open AI accountable for its choice to be non-profit could lead to the proliferation of similar, theoretically charitable, initiatives to potentially become profitable,

"Meta said. Zuckorberg has sided with Musk, who is

pursuing a legal battle for the same reasons. The founder of Tesla, one of the cofounders of OpenAl, had already sought an injunction against the company, alleging that it and Microsoft had collaborated to create a "for-profit monopoly" with anti-competitive behavior. OpenAl responded by publishing a blog titled

"Elon Musk Wanted a For Profit OpenAl," containing emails and messages between Musk and other cofounders dating back to 3015. The SpaceX founder left the organization in 2018, believing the company success. On the other hand, little space has been dedicated here to some aspects of AT that on the contrary are inflaming the global debate, involving the "titans" of science and digital: from Elon Musk to Mark Zuckerberg, from Bill Gates to Stephen Hawking. At the center of the debate in this case is the potential threat of artificial intelligence towards humanity and civilization. Colorful terms, which were not chosen by the writer, but which were used by Elon Musk himself last July 15, when he spoke at the National Governors Association Summer Meeting in Providence, Rhode Island. On that occasion, the CBO of Tesla and SpaceX reiterated that "Al is a fundamental risk to the existence of human civilization", underlining the need to resort to proactive regulation that mitigates the risk of its proliferation, inevitably dictated by the laws of the market and competition. Musk's appeal, which has been declaring his concern about the issue for years now, has once again caused a great outery, sparking a confrontation between Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook. The latter, in fact, questioned by a user during his Facebook

WHAT ELON MUSK AND MARK ZUCKERBERG THINK ABOUT ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Elon Musk thinks that artificial intelligence will allow mankind to free itself from the need to work. Elon Musk in a conference explained that for the first time there will be something more intelligent than man, he doesn't know when it will happen, but the time will come when there will no longer be a need to work, you will be able to have a job for those who want it for satisfaction personal, but artificial intelligence will be able to do everything.

Musk has repeatedly warned of the threats that AI poses to humanity, saying it could be more dangerous than nuclear weapons. If artificial intelligence could replace us at work as we will do for a living, where will we get the money to buy food? Elon Musk has found a solution for this too. He says a high universal income will be needed. On April 10, 2024, in an interview he says that within a year we will have artificial intelligences that are more intelligent than the most intelligent human beings.

Elon Musk has launched a new prediction, he hypothesized that the arrival of a super artificial intelligence within 12, 24 months maximum, provided that the supply of energy and the development of new hardware make it possible to satisfy the demands of an increasingly more powerful.

Musk has always been convinced of the inexorability of the development of so-called artificial general intelligence, an artificial intelligence so powerful that it can beat the most capable individuals in any field.

While Mark Zuckerberg prepares to fire 5% of his employees. The goal is to raise the level of efficiency. According to Mark Zuckerberg's words, it seems that these workers will not be replaced by new hires but directly by artificial intelligence, he explained that he wants to cut the lowest performing employees: thus quickly eliminating employees with poor performance.

On the one hand, an artificial intelligence that speeds up the work of computer engineers to the point of reducing the number of people needed to work in companies that deal with software and triggering a crisis in a sector that seemed flourishing, on the other hand there is the fact that the apps and sites we dedicate time to every day will be built much more by artificial intelligences than by human beings.

Right now in the Big Tech laboratories, teams of engineers and experts are trying to create strong artificial intelligence, capable of learning any intellectual task that can be performed by a human being. For years the project was shelved, fueled only by science fiction stories, as according to researchers, human intelligence was too complex to be completely replicated.

MARK ZUCKERBERG

Mark Zuckerberg has a generally positive view of artificial intelligence (AI) and believes it can have a profoundly positive impact on society if developed responsibly. Here are some key takeaways from his views on AI:

1. Optimism about the potential of AI: Zuckerberg sees AI as a powerful tool to improve everyday life. He is convinced that it can transform many aspects of technology, from the personalization of content on social networks to medicine and education, improving efficiency and creating new opportunities.

2. Practical applications in social media: At his company Meta (formerly Facebook), Zuckerberg has led the development of AI to improve user experiences, for example with recommendation models that personalize news feeds and suggestions of contents. AI is also used for content moderation, such as identifying and removing harmful or violent posts.

3. Ethics and responsibility: While he is optimistic, Zuckerberg is also aware of the risks associated with the use of AI, particularly regarding privacy and data security. He argued for ensuring that AI is used in an ethical and transparent way, particularly when it comes to avoiding discrimination in AI models or protecting user safety.

4. Support for AI research: Zuckerberg is a big supporter of investing in AI research. It has supported initiatives such as *Facebook AI Research (FAIR)*, a research unit that focuses on developing new techniques and applications for artificial intelligence. Furthermore, he expressed the importance of working together with universities and research institutions to develop AI so that it can benefit all of humanity.

5. AI as a tool for empowerment: Zuckerberg sees AI as a resource that can help people reach their full potential, particularly in developing countries, where AI can improve access to education, health services and other resources.

In summary, Mark Zuckerberg is generally enthusiastic about AI, believing it can have a huge positive impact across various industries, but he also recognizes the need for responsible regulation to prevent abuse and ensure it is used for the greater good.

ELON MUSK

Elon Musk has expressed mixed views on artificial intelligence (AI), alternating between enthusiasm for its potential and concern about its risks. Here are some key takeaways from his views:

1. Concern about existential risks: Musk has frequently warned of existential risks from AI. He said AI, if not regulated properly, could become dangerous to humanity, evolving uncontrollably and causing irreparable harm. Musk has compared the uncontrolled development of AI to "invoking the devil" and has repeatedly stressed the need for government control and oversight to prevent it from becoming a threat.

2. Regulation and Safety: Musk is a firm believer in *preventive regulation* of AI. According to him, governments should intervene before AI reaches too advanced levels, to ensure that it is developed safely and in line with human interests. He believes it's better to set rules for AI before it's too late, rather than react after problems have occurred.

3. Enthusiasm for AI in controlled settings: While concerned about the overall risks, Musk also recognizes the incredible potential of AI, especially in areas such as autonomous driving, medicine and automation. In companies like *Tesla*, AI is key to improving vehicle performance, for example with the autonomous driving system.

4. The vision of a future with AI and humanity: Musk is also a promoter of the idea of a symbiosis between humans and artificial intelligence, through the use of technologies such as *Neuralink*, which aims to create direct brain interfaces -computer. Musk suggests that humanity can evolve alongside AI, making AI an enhanced extension of human capabilities rather than a threat.

In summary, while Musk recognizes the potential benefits of AI, his main concern is that AI could evolve too quickly and become uncontrollable, causing significant harm. Therefore, its position is one of a cautious and regulated approach, with a strong emphasis on safety.
