First,  find an article that combines images and text in your local newspaper, ideally one with two or more images. If possible, identify the format used by the designer, referring to the formats described in the lecture notes.  Take the whole picture of the story (including the headline, byline, text, image, caption).

Second, insert the picture and write your individual opinion right here on the padlet. Give your comments on the story design, whether it is attractive and adhered to the rules of designing a story, or otherwise. Include your suggestion to make it more attractive.

       From my viewpoint, the headline is quite attracting with the strong headline can make the readers feel interested to read because it is about economic in our country, Malaysia. I have selected news from Berita Harian newspaper and i would like to comment about the format that has been used in this newspaper. The news is using vertical story design. It is very clean and attractive. The readers will not get tired to read this story because it is not too long and look dull. It also contains headline, dateline, photo, cutline and text.

From my point of view, the headline quite interesting because it can attract reader to read this story. But, the mugshot that have been taken in the story is not fulfill the format because the photo not run the full width of a column. Besides, the one photo is not enough because it make reader misunderstand about the story if they only look at the photo.

First of all, as we may see the headlines are hugely written and some sentences have been emphasized to attract the readers. The article also contains byline, dateline and tagline above the lead.

On the other hand, there are two types of photos in this news; one horizontal photo located under the headlines in L-shaped text block format and one square-shaped photo in U-shaped text block format. Each photo has its own cutline with photo credits at the end of it. The photos that were chosen are suitable with the story as both of them contain the image of Sultan in it.

Last but not least, the text in this news is well-written in horizontal story design as it is really pleasing to the eyes of readers. It is able to create an illusion to the readers with the quite big-sized of pictures that make the story looks shorter. At the end of the text, there is an additional cutline to describe more about the picture.

The headline written by the writer is tripod that summarize story contents and anchor story design to help organize the page. The writer also stated the byline, tagline, dateline, quote, liftout quote and attribution in the page.

The text is horizontal story design which helps to please the eyes of the readers and attracts the readers to read the story. Beside that, it also create the illusion that the stories are shorter.
 
Other than that, there is a mugshot photo in the page with the cutline that contain the name of the source and description to explain more about the photo. Another one is one horizontal photo that is nice to see and nice to read the story as the size of the photo is quite big. Definitely, the full sized photo require thoughtful analysis. 

The story that i have chosen from Berita Harian contains the basic or fundamentals of newspaper and the story design is alluring and worth to read it. It is attractive and adhered to the rules of designing the story.

In my opinion I can say that the headline followed by the secondary headline. The photo shape for this design is horizontal shape. In this article use direct quotes. The story design is in L-shaped text block which is wrap the photo. Position the photo on the proper side – whichever side forces the action in the photo to move towards the text. The article use legs   2 inches deep. The design use 5 columns and the caption placed at top-right photo.

This news story design used kicker which set above the main headline and gives additional information to the readers. The headline is written in larger and bolder text to attract the readers' attention. Besides, the large amount of numbers used in the headline give extra attention to the readers. It also contain byline, dateline, lead, quotation and attribution.

Furthermore, there are two different types of photos in this news, one is horizontal photo which is also the dominant photo and another one is vertical photo. Both photos have their own cutline. This news used the U-shaped text block. The text in this news is well-written in horizontal story design as it is really pleasing to the eyes of readers. It creates an illusion to the readers that the story are shorter.

In my opinion, the text are not very longer and the readers can understand very clearly about the story. It is also can attractive the readers to read this story. This is because the issue of Tahfiz Center Tragedy is an issue for the public to know it in more detail.

The news that I have chosen is from the SPORT section or part in the newspaper of NewSundayTimes. Refer to the photo that i have attached, the content of the news look interesting because it have the story design's elements and that are, the mugshot and horizontal photo. The photo at the upper news used the horizontal type of photo which included the "cutline" , while the above part of news used the mugshot type of photo. The differences type of photos will entertain the readers and the readers tend to read to the whole story. That is why the design of the story need to be pleasing to the eye.  If we look at the upper side of the newspaper, it have the kicker element set above the headline that can give additional info to the readers. This kicker is set in small points so that it can give summary subject to the reader and give the hint to them as they flip the newspaper. The headline of this story use the slammer method as it attract the reader's intention to read the news. Below the headline, there is the "hammer" design  that consist of short ,snapping word or phrase which gives pertinent information to the readers and the hammer of this newspaper have the element of teaser to attract the reader to read the whole story. At the right corner of the news, there are the additional information in the shape of "index" table which gives the numerical information to the sports's fan. In the text of the news, there are also some "quotes" of the sources and it included the "dateline" which give the reader the information where the news is happened and taken. If we look to the above part of the news there is the L shaped text block with the mugshot photo. In my opinion, the cutline in the news is very suitable to put on the right side of photo so that readers can know what the image is about, who are in the images and others. Besides that, the designer has been used the interesting photo. This is because some readers like to look interesting image rather than not interesting images. But I think, the story need two photo to more attracted readers. Last but not least, this news is attractive and adhered to the rules of designing a story.

I have used NEW SUNDAY TIMES as my assignment. In my opinion, this newspaper is so interesting. This is because it used one horizontal story design which can attract people's attention. It also used index to explain about the one horizontal photo which can give more information to the reader. This newspaper also used text to tell about whats happening in one horizontal photo.

It also used headlines to describe the one horizontal photo which can attract people's attention. This newspaper is so interesting. we can see the second story is centerpiece which can attract people to read another story. In the second story, it used date line to explain where the event is occurred. It also used ttext to describe about the photo. We can see the newspaper used the square photo. 

We can conclude all the newspaper have a format. So, we must learn about how to do the newspaper format. Thats all

My opinion on front page Harian Metro is good because the designer put a social issues as a main headline bold and un bold texts and the info under the headline to atract the readers. On the top page the designer put the teaser and mugshot with a jumplines to grab reader's attention so they will more atracted to buy and read. 

Moreover designer out a artist issues with a square photo with a slammer headlines plus with a direct quote from that artist and the byline to streghthen this news. Beside that that photo have a virtical photo with a headlines and a jumplines. 

Below of this front page have a advertisement with a logo and the quote to attract the buyers. 

Overall this front page very good and attractive.

In my opinion I think the page design that i have selected was interesting enough to please reader's eye. This is because every story on this page was included with colored images and it leads to be called the page with art.

Next, this article was used a buttling headlines where as consist different sizes of story.The first story has the biggest sizes of story will attract the readers to read the story.

Overall, i think this page design is very good and attractive to the readers with provides more information and understanding to the readers.
